Rush Hour New Line Platinum Series

Jackie Chan is always fun to watch, so I thought I'd introduce my 10 year old to one of his movies. I'd forgotten that nearly every third word out of Chris Tucker's mouth is a swear word of some sort. If you care about that kind of thing, look elsewhere for entertainment.

been watching this since childhood and still this never gets old, perfect to watch anytime for a good laugh and great action scenes. chris and jackie are a great duo honestly the rush hour movies would never be the same without them. classic action comedy film so glad prime has it now since they didn't before, please have rush hour 2 as well soon.

Rush Hour was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. The point of the Rush Hour series was to mix some cop action with martial arts and comedy and the two actors were perfect for that. Chan was an Asian martial arts star who always took a humorous take on his movies and Tucker was a comedian. In this series Chan would play the straight guy and Tucker the jokester in this buddy police classic.In this first film an infamous criminal known as Juntao was stealing Chinese artifacts and kidnaps the Chinese Consul in Los Angeles’ daughter. Chan as Detective Lee comes to America to rescue the girl. The Los Angeles police consider him a nuisance and give a delinquent cop Detective James Carter (Tucker) the job of distracting him from the case. Instead the two carry out their own investigation and get in a bunch of trouble as a result.Director Brent Ratner was heavily influenced by Bruce Lee movies. The opening sequence of a panoramic view of Hong Kong and music by Lao Schifrin were borrowed from Enter The Dragon. He also incorporated some of Chan’s stunts and techniques in the action sequences like in the final confrontation.Chan and Tucker were fantastic at playing off each other. There are many memorable moments between the two. For instance when they first meet Tucker yells at Chan and asks him “Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?” Tucker is yelling playing upon the American stereotype that the way to talk to people that don’t speak English is to raise their voice. Another time Tucker tries to show Chan how to sing and dance to War by Edwin Starr.In the end everyone involved delivered a very satisfying film.C

TL;DR (Too, Long; Didn't Read) VersionThe 90s was an era of cliches, stereotypes, sexism, and cheesy action films. Rush Hour is a combination of all these qualities and more. Who doesn't remember "War, huh, good god, What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!".The good- Chris Tucker's comedic timing is perfect and his unfiltered jokes match each scene perfectly.- Jackie Chan's stunts are top notch in this film.- The action scenes are intense and fun.The bad- The plot is unrealistic.- All those people shooting at Tucker and Chan and no one got shot?- The Law of Physics does not apply in this film.Final Verdict: A cult classic and a film that makes you feel good at the end.Like our review? There is a scene where Chan jumps from a tree into a window of the Chinese Embassy. While stunt coordinator Terry Leonard admitted that Chan could have easily made the jump on his own, the crew had to build scaffolding on either side of the window in the event that the stunt went wrong. When Chan saw the scaffolding for the first time, he shook his head and said, You Americans...so safe.

This movie was so funny!!! I laughed so much I will have to watch it again to see what i missed. Even the bloopers are hilarious.

Theater quality; 2.35:1/5.1 I watched this one many years ago. I enjoyed it this time like it was the first time. I watched Rush Hour 3 last week and knew I would enjoy it as much as what I just enjoyed. I like action and violence. I like shooting, punching and kicking. I like explosions. I like pursuit. I just got a week's worth all in one movie.

The thing about this movie is that it is Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in a Blockbuster Action Movie. Scenes in which Chris Tucker is being silly alternate with scenes in which Jackie Chan is beating people up, to great effect. There are, I admit, a few scenes which are neither, and hence not necessarily as good, but overall it works as well as you could hope for.It isn't the best movie I've ever seen. It isn't close. Rush Hour isn't trying to be great art, and it doesn't succeed at what it's not trying for. But it's a pretty great way to spend an hour and a half.

It's a live-action comic-book movie, not a thing realistic about it, but it's fun. Does what it sets out to do in a great way. The second movie is the funniest, but this one is probably the best one overall.As an aside, it's kinda silly how the Chinese characters are speaking Mandarin, though they're supposed to be from Hong Kong. But whatever...

I first saw this film on VHS video at the end of the 1990s, when it was originally released. I have loved it ever since. I consider it to be one of Jackie Chan's best films and there are some great comedy moments, action scenes and stunts in the film. I also thought that he and Chris Tucker made a superb double act in the film too. I still can't believe that the film is now over 20 years old, though. I give it the maximum five stars because, although it's now an older film, it is still extremely entertaining. If you haven't already seen this and you love buddy cop or comedy action films, then I would strongly recommend a purchase. The other two films in the series aren't bad, either.

This film sees Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker team up as police officers from completely different backgrounds to work on a case together and is a fantastic film full of action (the stunts by Chan are amazing) and comedy which makes for a film well worth checking out.

Bought as a present for my partner. A very funny film. Who doesn’t love Jackie Chan?
