The Sugar Girls of Love Lane: Tales of Love, Loss and Friendship from Tate & Lyle's Liverpool Refinery

A memorable and thoroughly enjoyable trip down Love Lane
The Sugar Girls of Love Lane weaves together fascinating stories of the lives of women working in the Tate and Lyle factory. It’s easy to read and draws you in quickly. Before you know it you’ve reached the end and are missing the women you’ve met along the way. I don’t often read social history and this expertly researched book was an ideal opportunity to learn about a key part of Liverpool’s past. It felt more like a gorgeous collection of short stories than a history book, which was perfect for my taste.
