The Pit and the Pendulum (Edgar Allan Poe Graphic Novels)

Great retelling of a classic story!

This book is not a graphic novel. It is more like a simple cartoon. I was expecting a novel (i.e. the story accompanied with some great pictures.). The book is 62 pages but contains virtually no words to read).

The Pit and the Pendulum aus dem Verlag Stone Arch Books ist eine grafische Adaption der klassischen Geschichte von Edgar Allen Poe, die sich vorwiegend an junge Leser richtet. Die Zeichnung sind recht gewaltfrei gehalten, Blut wird nur angedeutet, der Text ist nah am Original und am Ende des Buches gibt es nicht nur eine Erklärung der verwendeten, nicht mehr allgemein gebräuchlichen Wörter, sondern auch eine Doppelseite mit Fragen zum Text. Letztere sind vermutlich für Schulklassen, bzw. Lehrer gedacht.Da die Zeichnungen allerdings sehr stimmig und atmosphärisch sind, kann ich das Buch auch Erwachsenen ans Herz legen.Es sind, soweit für mich ersichtlich, bereits drei weitere Bände aus dieser Reihe erschienen.

I liked the graphics, the atmosphere conveyed, the narration, the feeling I was reading a beautiful classical short story in almost no time. I chose this rating because it’s very good work and unsettling. I recommend this book to people who like graphic novels and short stories.
