Liked having extra pieces as I did break a few. Doesn't work very well. Shakes to much. Can't play but seconds of record at a time.

Love every bit of it. No dislike.

A challenging project. The directions & assembly went well with three issues.1. The arm interconnection to the unit is very unstable. The wood piece that inserts into theball bearing doesn't "seat properly" so the stylus/needle on the record to be played isn't level all the time.I tried a few ways to correct it without much success.2. The music doesn't play well. The initial sound is "scratchy" and with the volume up the record is barelyheard if at all. I rechecked all the wires/connections and the issue still persists.3. Rokr includes a "support" page that states if there are questions "we are always here for your assistance".I emailed them on Wednesday February 10th stating what I have described here.Their return response was "Sorry for the issue. Due to jet lag, we need some time to check the messages. Sorry for the inconvenience. But we will try our best to help you solve the problem ASAP. Thanks for your understanding!"I haven't heard back from them since - a week.Bottom line is that the project is fun & a challenge but the Customer Service is sorely lacking........that's why the rating is 3 Stars.

This model has a lot of decorative component that are unnecessary for it's actual operation. For example, the two 'volume' knobs needs to be assembled but do nothing. I would also suggest not connecting the base of this device until the very end because you will have take it off to connect the wiring from the needle and the speaker. In addition, I would only install the '45' wheel instead of '78' wheel. What they don't tell you is if you want to play different speed records you have change the speed wheel.

Love the complexity of the builds but not so much how some of the pieces nearly break before you can get them off the board. And if they do break, got to break out the super glue to put the piece back together before you can use them. I haven't had to much trouble but my daughter has. Most times it's because the cuts were/are bad cuts and the piece just doesn't want to come out.I would gift this to someone else who knows how to work with Balsamwood. Or I am just someone who gets grimlins with mine when I get them.The smaller builds are perfect to have some peace and quiet in the house for kids...until they need help.

This *would have* been my 12th ROKR project but sadly it's being returned. Here's my take.For the price paid you would expect quality wood, instead the wood was warped. But I figured I can try to make it work. Not so. The pieces that were not warped did not align. The instructions are poorly written and contain a lot of errors.To plug the cables for the speaker and tonearm you need to invert the gramophone and in doing so, you dislodge the main gear and then have to waste time repositioning it. This is QA issue. They give you the tiniest piece of wax and you will most definitely need more as you build the unit.ROKR did not make this item with the same quality as their other wood puzzles. Sadly I had to return it.

This was a bit harder to assemble. We still have not been able to get the turntable to work. My teenagers love to put these together since so many of their other activities are shut down.

One of the best and hard to assemble but i loved it, it is beautiful and may order the other similar to it and very interesting

Like all mechanical puzzles, you never know if you assembled it correctly until that first crank whether it’s a car, vintage projector, or this gramophone. Happy to say mine works. I didn’t expect to get audiophile sound quality (which I didn’t). It is however a very attractive piece to put on display. I don’t intend to switch to the other speeds (that doesn’t look very easy). The fun is in putting it together. The instructions were good enough that I didn’t have to refer to any videos or call rokr. Spares of critical pieces included. Would recommend this to someone with some skill and patience. Have a razor-type blade, pliers, tweezers and wood glue handy. Accidents happen.
