PF FARM Mix Size Dark Purple Fresh Ripe Passion Fruit Florida No.1 (2 Dozen / 24 Counts)

First off I purchased these that Thursday/Friday before Memorial day weekend. They were sent out that Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I got the 24 pack (better value per price). They sat at the warehouse for two days (with no movement whatsoever). They arrived beautifully to my door! I was given 31 individual passion fruits. I thought I had a few that were moldy/inedible, but then I looked at the chart the company provided on the Amazon sellers page, and they were still looking like the edible pictures. Took what I thought was bad back out of the freezer, ate them, and they were delicious. Out of the whole box of 31, only one was bad (had mold). What a great deal. Packaged so well. Quite a fast delivery even considering the Memorial Day weekend. All that matters to me is that they arrived packaged well, fresh, intact. They exceeded my expectations above and beyond. Thank you PF Farms, I will definitely be back for more of your delicious fruits! <3

America! Welcome to passion fruit. More available, prior to now in southern hemisphere. As a part Ozzy, I’m thrilled Amazon have them available for Americans. Just a note before you panic, you may receive them with smooth skins. No worries. In a day or two they will go into their ripening process by becoming wrinkly, which is fine and normal. As the days pass they become more wrinkled and deliciously ripe. Keeping them in the fridge is fine, but occasionally, shortly after delivery, I would take them out of fridge for a breather. Great with seltzer and a million other things.

The more accurate product name would be PF FARM Mostly Green Fresh Underripe Small Passion Fruit. Passionfruit don't fully ripen off the vine, so receiving green fruit is a big problem. Green fruit is essentially inedible. Most of the fruit we received is underripe. It's been my experience that some of the underripe fruit will slightly ripen over the next few days, but it will never get to the deep purple that is advertised in the picture. I knew we were taking a risk on a fresh fruit product with a low review count that is shipped long distance, but this failed to meet my expectations by such a margin that I cannot recommend this product to anyone. This is worsened by the fact that we paid extra for expedited shipping, having assumed we were actually getting ripe fruit. Oh, and did I mention that it was supposed to be a gift for someone who usually travels in the winter and loves passionfruit? With a product like this, which is selling at approximately a 10x markup, and has a low review count, the seller had better deliver on what is advertised. This order has been an incredible disappointment and completely failed to meet my expectations on everything except the delivery time.

I have some passion fruit vines but they don't produce enough fruit for me to eat year round so I supplement from elsewhere. I live in Florida where passion vines grow like weeds and are crazy productive but on the odd occasion you find passion fruit in grocery stores its absurdly priced (really Publix, $4 for one fruit), while these are still on the expensive end I can still have a couple for breakfast. The fruit arrived just under ripe which is ideal as the difference between over and just right is a couple of days for passion fruit. A few greens but purple varieties can produce green fruit, they taste the same as the purple ones as long as they come from a purple variety. For those unfamiliar with eating passion fruit they are crunchy, tart & sweet. Insanely good for you and also insanely delicious. You may see online people saying to wait until they become "all wrinkly" but don't do this, this is overripe and the fruit will have the consistency of snot as they are dried out. * Smooth skin - Under ripe, most juicy but less sweet. Still delicious. * A few wrinkles - Perfectly ripe. * Wrinkly all over - Over ripe, still edible but they wont be juicy and the fruit will have the consistency of snot. The best way to open them is to run a knife through the top 1/4 while the fruit is upright so you don't loose the delicious juice. Then get a teaspoon and run it around the inside skin to separate the fruit from the skin. Eat it right out of the fruit with the spoon and then drink the leftover juice from the fruit. They also taste best cold so keep them in the fridge.

The first order I placed was packed very nicely. However. the fruit inside had detached from sides and was sitting on the bottom of all the fruit. The second order was not well packed, but the fruit was delicious and intact. It seems the later in the season the order is placed, the better the fruit !

The fruit arrived quickly and for the most part was great. They were all of a nice size but unfortunately 5-6 of them were very empty inside. Overall I was very happy with this product, I do wish however that they arrived in different states of ripeness and not all ripe. I would definitely try them again Update I ordered a second box of passion fruit. This one was very disappointing. Only 3-4 of the fruits had a decent amount of fruit inside most of them had a spoonful if that. I didn’t want to write a bad review here and sent a message to the seller instead, after all this is fruit and you just don’t really know before you open it. I am updating this review here since I sent the message four days ago and the seller did not even respond. I understand that the fruit is a little out of their control but the fact that they didn’t respond is very disappointing. So I would say if you are lucky enough to get a good batch of fruit, these are definitely delicious but if you get a bad batch don’t expect anything from the seller. Further Update The seller contacted me shortly after I updated my review, I am not sure if it was coincidence or not but they are sending me a new box of passion fruit.
