Charcoal vents range hood dont generally blow out. I believe its for internal circulation. **Q: Can it vent to the rear.** A: no it cannot vent to the rear directly out of the unit, only from the top of the unit, but i have a cabinet above it so hidden from sight i used a 90 degree elbow and vented out of my house because the wall it's installed on is an exterior wall. **Q: Can you mount it on wall without cabinet** A: Thank you for your question. This unit was designed for mounting under the cabinet, but there are 4 keyholes on the back for rear mounting. This answer is valid for our current design as of 8/5/2019.
