The kit is ok, but you’re basically buying the blade.
The seller demanded a review, so here it is... overall, not bad, but could be better. First, the slingshot is small and not a full size slingshot as I had expected. It’s made out of steeI, which is nice, but not comfortable for use on higher branches. I bought a daisy slingshot for $8 instead, which works much better. Pole saws usually reach 15-20ft. I’ve extended mine with electrical conduit to like 30ft, but that becomes unpractical and I wanted to go higher. I decided I’d try this. You shoot the bean bag weights over the branch with fishing line in order to pull the rope and saw up over the branches. The ropes are only 25 feet long. The bean bag weights that you shoot over the branches are basically ball bearings inside a fabric bag. I lost mine pretty quickly and with all the pulling and tangling up in the branches they wear out quickly. They’re probably somewhere in my neighbors yard. They give you pretty thick fishing line, but it runs out quick. You’ll find that after you shoot the fishing line up there it might become a tangled mess that you can’t sort out so you’ll just get rid of it and use more. I used fishing line I had lying around after that. It was lighter fishing line and broke more easily, resulting in me losing the weights. I just started using little 3/4” rocks. I first trying tying the fishing line to the rocks, but that was painful. I just decided to tightly duck tape the line to the rocks while limiting any flapping of the tape so it was more aerodynamic. This worked well. Once you get a hang on how to target the right branches at the right angle, it’s pretty fun actually, like a puzzle. I would get the line over multiple branches so the saw would cascade down and I cut them successively from higher up to lower down as they dropped and fell away. You can cut some monster branches. I cut a six inch branch from maybe 45 ft up. Of course, this was after I bought the new slingshot, added 50 more ft of rope to each end of the existing ropes, used the fishing line I had, and the rock weights I made. The blade cuts amazingly well considering it’s just a hand-powered saw. The main problem is that the blade binds a lot of it’s not at a good angle. I believe this is intended to be used by two people. The blade seems to work best if it’s at a 45 degree angle to the branch vertically with someone pulling from each direction. Best to use a bouncing motion while one person releases as the other pulls. Keeping it in motion seems to help. Also, if you start a cut and then alter the angle along the ground after, then it binds also. I suppose maybe you could lube the blade or something, but I don’t know how effective that would be. If you have started a cut and pull the blade too far, the knot on either end where the rope attaches will get stuck in the notch. The ropes come with loops on each end, but they can be hard on your hands. Best to wear gloves. The threads on straps that come with it are already fraying. Not sure what the usage scenario for this saw is, but I basically was able to cut branches about 40-50 ft up but myself. I used a series of ropes, pulleys, and bungie cords to accomplish it. It’s pretty insane and I don’t expect the average person to do that. So, basically, in the end, you’re basically only getting the blade out of the deal. Everything else will quickly wear out or get lost in a few uses, but if you don’t want to pay an arborist to cut a few higher up branches and you like a challenge, then maybe this is for you. $50 for a chainsaw blade might be high, but it is double-sided and I don’t know where else to get something like this. It’s sure cheaper than paying someone to do it if you are the inventive type like me. As long as the branches don’t hit your house or impale and it all works out like it did for me then buy this. I initially gave this three stars because it’s basically an expensive saw blade, but changed it to four after thinking how awesome I am and how I managed to saw those branches. Without the blade I wouldn’t have been able to do it. You’d have to have been there, it was pretty cool. My neighbors probably think I’m insane.

Does not work!
I had a single sided 36 inch High Limb hand Chain saw that was pretty good. It is about 16 yrs old. I needed to cut several dead limbs from a live oak tree. I thought a new one would help me get the work done. I read the info on this PockeTech 48 inch double sided Hight Limb Hand Chain Say and thought it would be just what I needed. Saw other reviews complaining about it jamming but thought it was just people that did not really know what they were doing. Since I had already had one and new how it would work, I ordered this one. I tried it on several tree limbs over the next two days. It would jam every time no matter what size or how high or low the limb I was trying to cut. I never got it to cut thru a single limb! My advice is read all the reviews that said it just kept jamming and was not very good, because they were right. Sling shot included was a joke also. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I Would not advise anyone to buy it. I am now back to using my one sided 16 yr old one, it works still.

Got a high limb to remove? This saw will do it safely.
I had to wait for a stock refill when ordering this saw but it was worth the wait. The saw has teeth on either side so no mater how it drapes over the limb to be removed it will cut. The four foot length of the chain lets the operator(s) get a good "swing" on it when cutting. The kit came with everything a person could need, even a mini slingshot, weights and monofilament line for getting the leader over the proper limb. The instructions were complete and useful, emphasizing proper use and safety. At this point I have used this device to remove several very high limbs, and although removing a larger limb is labor intensive, it sure beats climbing a tree-- especially a thorny hedge or honey locust!! In short, this is a great product, well designed, has everything one will need to do an efficient and safe job— even a sharpening file— and is reasonably priced.

Decent chain but supporting component quality is average, if that.
I received this last week to remove a couple of medium sized (3- and 6-inch) dead limbs from a tall oak tree adjacent to our driveway. I found that the chain cut quickly, but towards the end began to snag more and more. The supplied cord is like braided clothesline and tends to stretch a little making the act of freeing the chain from a snag a bit tougher than it needs to be. It'll probably take more practice to get the hang of cutting these larger limbs. I received two weight bags as part of the shipment. However, one weight bag was not properly stitched and the stitched loop immediately failed, so I'm glad there was a second in the kit. Also the carabiner clip that comes with the kit didn't last: The spring failed on just the second limb. So, at the end of day one, I'll be fixing one weight bag and replacing a carabiner. In summary, the kit works but the quality of the supporting components is moderate at best.

Great little saw with teeth on both sides.
I had purchased a 1 sided high limb saw and was so frustrating to use. It did work good on low hanging limbs but drove me crazy on the high limbs so i just quit trying to trim the limbs. After a few months passed, I decided to give it another try with this 2 sided saw. So much less work when you get the saw over the limb and just cut, unlike with 1 sided saw that i spent hours trying to flip the chain over so teeth were on the right side to cut. Now its not easy to cut limbs 35 feet up but you can do it as i have. The chain is like a real chainsaw chain and as a logger used to sharpening chains, i assumed it would need sharpening often but so far i havent had to sharpen it so a quality chain for sure. The rope wasnt long enough for limbs as high as i was cutting but no problem getting a longer rope. Would i buy again? Yes but doubt i will ever wear this one out lol. Should last decades if you keep it in a dry place after using and chains that dont cut into the dirt, almost never will need sharpening. If you want to try trimming high limbs, buy 2 sided chain or be ready for lots of cursing as you try to flip a 1 sided chain over to cut lol.
