Review: Good value, quality product - This video doorbell is requires a mains supply. It does not operate from a battery. If you already have a bell transformer this is a doddle to fit. If not, you'll need to install a transformer and run a wire to the unit. This is not difficult, but needs to be considered. Fitting the doorbell is really easy with all the necessary bits and pieces,even including a drill bit and screwdriver. You fit a bracket and then clip and secure the doorbell to the bracket. Configuring the doorbell to access your WiFi is also pretty straightforward once you have installed the ezviz app on your phone. Once configured, the doorbell can link to the ezviz door chime using the wireless network. Video from the doorbell can be seen on the phone app, stored in the (subscription) cloud, or locally on a micro SD memory card. It is also possible to use an existing CCTV video recorder to store video from the doorbell (conditions apply). In summary, a great choice if you don't want to keep changing batteries and don't want to pay a monthly subscription.
Review: Steer Clear - I've been involved in IT since it's earliest days so I'm not new when it comes to installing items such as EZVIZ door cam, but the guide provided for the installation of the EZVIZ DB1C is possibly the worse I've ever come across. You won't be surprised to discover that not a hint is provided that a £90 professional installation is strongly recommended before you've purchased the damn thing, it's only after purchase that you're made aware of this important fact. Not only is the brief installation and user manual supplied with the camera wholly inadequate, but what the manual tells you're supposed to see on the Ezviz app screen and what you actually see on the screen bear little relation to one another. When running the app, pages after page pop up without a hint of what you're supposed to do or write. For example, no mention is made is made in the manual about the fingerprint recognition system (which doesn't work) used for logging in. As a further example of slap-dash packaging, the security plate covering for the SD card slot is secured with two grub screws but no suitable screwdriver with the correct bit is provided to remove the cover to enable you to insert the SD card, and yet, for some bizarre reason, you're provided with a masonry drill complete with wall plugs and screws for fixing the camera to brickwork, when in fact, in the vast majority of cases the camera will be fixed to the front door. Most unsettling of all is that calls on my mobile are routed through the door cam. For what possible reason would I want my private calls to be heard on the device fixed outside on my front door!!!! This even happens when the cam is not connected to the power supply. Again, no mention anywhere at all in the user guide as to how to disable this function. You have been warned. Waste your money on this piece of rubbish and it'll end up languishing in the drawer.

**Q: Is there a chime for this that will plug into a wall socket? How much and where from? Indispensable if my phone is off or battery is dead. Thanks.**
A: No, you need to purchase a separate bell or chime and wire it to the DB1 via a bell transformer.  The DB1 will chime on the device itself if the door bell button is pressed.

**Q: Ive got plug socket near the door so would electrician be able to wire up near door?**
A: Technically yes, you just need to put a transformer in the circuit somewhere.  However, the main issue with this door bell that I had was that it’s wouldn’t work with two of the recommended chimes (they kept humming).  What I thought was going to be a nice solution turned out to be a waste of time and money so I sent both the door bell and chimes back.  I ordered the Ring Pro instead and that is just fantastic.

**Q: Has anyone had issues with the wifi dropping out during installation on your phone? when i press connect, it goes, everytime**
A: The wifi will drop out during installation when it connects to the doorbell.

**Q: Can someone just walk up and take the sd card out ?**
A: No its inside
