Lifefactory 12-ounce (650 ml) glass water bottles offer a large capacity to quench a big thirst while providing an excellent alternative to disposable plastic bottles. These innovative bottles feature durable glass construction that offers pure taste with no chemical leaching. The bottle’s glass is surrounded in a patented silicone sleeve that both protects against breakage and provides a comfortable, non-slip gripping surface. The bottle also features a wide-mouth opening making it easy to fill with ice cubes, pieces of fruit, or drink mixes and powders. The Straw Cap is designed for upright, spill proof sipping--with no tipping required--perfect for use on-the-go or in yoga class. The Straw Cap has a handy pivoting handle that makes it easy to carry the bottle and that stows out of the way while drinking. For easy care, the silicone sleeve and bottle can be washed together. All components of the bottle are dishwasher safe. It is recommended to wash the cap and straw on the top rack. The cap is constructed of BPA/BPS-free polypropylene (PP#5) with no phthalates, PVC, or polycarbonates. The straw is constructed of durable medical-grade silicone. All Lifefactory components are made in the USA or Europe and all products are assembled in the USA.

Breaks, leaks, slips easily from hands, no warranty against breaks. Updated: Write the company for glass insert replacements
My initial review for the broken bottle issue after receiving no response after 2 weeks was to give the bottle 1 star and write the company off as customer unfriendly. However, 2 week and 1 day later the company has responded. See their response at the bottom of my initial review. You will find it helpful for replacements if your glass bottle is damaged.~~~~~~~~~~~Our 12 oz. bottle was dropped from a height under 36" and sustained a crack 3.25" in a semi circular shape by the rim. Damage was concealed by the lid and was not noticeable until after use. The crack may have released tiny glass shards that went into my child's drinking water inside. I question the design safety and integrity of this product:Issue #1: The silicon sleeve does not perform as stated by the company as it fails as an anti-slip grip guard because the silicone is thin and the holes in the silicon sleeve expose a large amount of glass surface area that becomes slippery especially when full or wet and in the hands of a child. The sleeve also does not provide temperature protection because there are very large holes in it by design. The sleeve provides no collision protection because it cracks from one small drop (under 3 feet).Issue #2: The warranty. No warranty against cracking from one small drop (under 3 feet). However please see the company response below regarding glass replacements. In my opinion this is a fair and consumer oriented policy.Issue #3: No links to glass bottle replacements on Lifefactory website. You must write in to the company if you do not see a link on their website for your glass replacement. They will email a link to the glass insert. A bit inconvenient since I had to wait over 2 weeks for a response.Issue #4: The awkward short straw must be used at an angle, then pushed completely flat again to avoid leaks. It does not do this easily. There is no cover over the straw itself to keep it sanitary for use.Issue #5: I wonder how Life Factory might responsibly market these products for children when they could potentially sustain injury from unnoticeable cracks and shards that occur under the lid as was my child's case? It was not until I washed the bottle that I noticed that damage. In my opinion while I appreciate being able to see how much liquid is in the the container and it does look great, I feel safer with the insulated metal thermos option for my child to bring to school.Company response:"Apologies for the delayed response!I am very sorry to hear about your child’s broken bottle. I would be happy to send you a full replacement. Please let me know which color their 12oz bottle was.1) The sleeve is meant to provide a better gripping surface for the bottle compared to a glass bottle with no sleeve. While the silicone sleeve does protect against everyday use, we can't claim that the bottles are shatterproof. Unfortunately, the bottle can still break from impact under the correct circumstances.2) Although we do not have a warranty, we know glass can break, and we wanted an economical way for our customers to continue using our bottles if broken, without having to invest another $30 in purchasing a new bottle. For broken bottles, we offer replacement glass inserts for the bottles that you can order online. You simply save the silicone sleeve and cap to the bottle. The replacement glass inserts are no cost, you are only responsible for paying shipping. You can always order your free replacement here: Replacement Bottles3) We are currently working on content of our website and are working on finding a permanent home for the link. For future reference, The link is a result of search done on[...]. If you ever need to find them again, simply log onto[...] > go to the top of the webpage where you’ll see a ‘Search’ bar in the top right-hand corner > type in the EXACT word “replacement” > hit the ‘Search’ button and the replacement bottles will pop right up.Please note that you MUST type in the EXACT word “replacement”. Any variation of “replacement” will not yield the correct results. For example, searching for “replacements” or “replacement glass” will not yield the correct results.4) We understand your concerns and consider our bottles a healthy alternative to harmful plastics. We encourage our customers to evaluate the benefits and risks with glass as they do with plastic and metal and make a personal decision that is best for their families. The bottle should be regularly inspected for cracks or breaks, especially if the bottle has been dropped. Please be sure to send over the specifics for the replacement bottle!Best"

We were very disappointed in this product
We were very disappointed in this product. We bought three bottles (2 with the straw lids) and in the first few days, one straw lid stopped working and then within two weeks the next lid stopped working. Sure, the bottle is great - but how can you use it if you can't suck out of the straw? I tried getting in touch with the company and no response. Now we have two bottles we can't use and I'll have to buy different lids because the company won't get back to me. Great idea, however, poor product design, and lack of customer service. There's many other similar products out there, so I'd recommend finding another company.

So far it is great! Helpful to see water level.
I am trying to get my toddler to drink more water early in the day and less at night. This is a great bottle for that because both he and I can see the water level. I put a rubber band part way down the bottle to give him a goal of where to drink to. He likes the bottle and has been enjoying drinking out of the straw. The handle is an added bonus for toddler use that I hadn't thought about. You do have to be careful because I imagine if it fell on hard tile or cement it would break, but so far it has been fine. My plan was to have it be more of an in the carseat water bottle. One thing to note is that the straw has to be all the way open as far as it can go for the water to come out. This can be a little hard/confusing/frustrating for a toddler so just be sure to remind them to open it all the way if you hear them getting frustrated. Very happy with the purchase and glad to have a glass option. My son is about 2 years 9 months. He can open the straw himself.

Disappointed with the straw
There are not many options on the market for kid friendly, plastic and stainless steel free water bottles options so we gave this a try. The containers itself is a good size and we haven’t experienced any negatives. The straw however has been disappointing. It leaks and often my kids can’t get water out of it. I than have to adjust it to JUST the right angle for it to be useable. Definitely not ideal for toddlers but we make it work until we can switch the lid to something else.

Don't last long
I originally had one of these cups for my oldest. It was great for the car and on the go, so I was disappointed when the lid/ straw quit working. I replaced the lid and bought 2 more cups for my twins. Big mistake. The lids/ straws only worked for a few uses before all 3 were out of commission. These were not cheap cups to only be used a few times. I always hand washed them and took great care of them. I will not be replacing the lids again. If the lids did not malfunction, I would be way more inclined to recommend this product.

Design flaw, don't waste your money
I bought two of these as I am trying to phase out plastic cups in our home. The valve in one went bad within the first 30 days. My child would suck the straw and be sucking air, little to no water would come up. The valve in the second bottle lasted another month. I contacted Life Factory and told them that both had stopped working. They sent me a replacement for one, but told me I have to buy the other one on their site. First of all, I bought two defective items, not one. Second, the replacement cap is not even available on their site. Not to mention, the replacement will probably only last another month or so. My sister-in-law bought this bottle for her child and the same thing happened to them. I would love this item if it were reliable, but the design is flawed. Given the price and limited lifespan, don't waste your money.

Great water bottle
I really the water bottle. I purchased this for my 2½ how is always stealing her brothers. The disadvantage is she can't open the spout by herself. Other than that it's great. The glass is thick and well protected by the silicone membrane. I have used life factory brand for years. Never had the glass break. I have purchased other off brands and the glass was very thin. The kids broke them in a week.

Highly recommend. It is a bit heavy compared to other plastic bottles but that is understandable as it is made of glass with good thickness. I don't think it will break easily. The straw works well and overall it is a good product.I had to return the same product with the bigger size bottle as the straw was so stiff and didn't work (had to press it with the full power of hand).I strongly recommend this product to people considering to use glass bottle. It is environtment friendly, BSP friendly.

Bottle leaks and is over priced for quality
Bottle leaks and has stopped working. Only a few months old. Very over priced for how long it’s lasted. Lid is very poor quality.

Nice idea poorly executed lid
A good idea and the bottle itself has endured a drop or two without breaking, however the straw drinking lid is a big dissapointent as it has failed after just a few weeks. I can see from the reviews that this is a common fail so I don’t really want to purchase another.

Gasket is wrong size!!?!
Bottle looks great, but the gasket in the lid is clearly too large for it, which makes bottle leak.I'll happily accept a replacement gasket if Amazon does parts replacement.

Mostly good but leaks
Bottle and sleeve are very good. Straw is easy to use but it leaks, unpredictably, even when it is standing upright and untouched on a flat surface. Why?!
