Will it keep the food cold until I’m ready to warm it? Or do I need to pack it in a cooler and then move to the warmer?

I always took my food in separate containers and kept it on ice till I was ready to eat between 45mins to an hour. So, no it won’t keep it cold/cool. I returned mine because the lid would not stay tightly secured. I purchased one that was half the price of this one and has 3 separate compartments. It’s perfect.

My dc charger melted! how can i just get a new charger?

Let the seller send you a new one

Do you need to put water to the heating plate?

No, but if you’re heating something like rice is may be beneficial to not scorch the food. But not necessary.
