JBL no… just as good? “Yes” for made in China. I’m doing a comparison to the JBL drivers I replaced with these. I just installed and can say that I’m impressed. Construction appears good, cones are rigid, surrounds are rubber so no fear on deterioration. sound… not much missing, good tone. Low end is good, has a punch and the mids are present so can be uses as a mid or a low driver. Larger magnets than my stock JBL’s, better cooling better punch. I installed these in a JBL bookshelf set and I’m not disappointed. We’ll see if they can handle some hi power once I run them in step volume increments over time. Fit: like a glove, these likely will be flush mount and not insert the original cut but fit nicely flush without any mods. I give these drivers 4 stars, would have been 5 stars due to framework light but will not pose any problems. So far so good!

These are great sounding speakers that are good in a variety of situations. I've used them for custom home projects and car audio as well. They can produce a good amount and surprisingly good quality of solid deep base, especially for their size, but learn what all the numbers mean and how to use them if you want everything they can offer. This is of course true for any successful speaker project. Parts express has a lot of information on how to use them to your best purpose. I'm using my latest pair in a car door application with very satisfying results and I'm a musician and quite picky. Nothing is free when it comes to speaker building. Decide your priorities and accept the trade offs that come with it and you'll be happy. If not. It's not that big of an investment. Rethink and try again.
