My biggest fear is the cake sliding and ruin it. How secure is this turntable? I don't want to buy it and then regret it because it does not work.

I haven't had and issues with the cakes sliding. I love my Kootek. My granddaughters use it too. No problems!!

Does this turn with ball bearings?

Yes. The ball bearings create such a smooth, quiet turning. All buyers beware -- do NOT put this in the dishwasher. My husband ruined mine. Completely unsalvageable.

Are these products FDA approved?

The US FDA regulates food contact surfaces. Cookware and utensils fall under this category. The FDA does not require approval for every piece of cookware or utensil before it hits the market, but the materials from which it is constructed must be “generally regarded as safe” (GRAS) and it must be free of hazardous defects and design flaws to be in compliance with the FD&C act. Examples of GRAS materials are stainless steel or Teflon pan coating. Examples of defects or design flaws include leakage (burn hazard), breakage, handle temperature, handle strength, lid fit, etc. In the absence of routine inspections or sampling activities for cookware the FDA depends on consumer complaints. The FDA has limited inspectional resources and prioritizes its surveillance activities based on anticipated risk to Public Health. Low-risk items such as stainless steel utensils or cookware are not as much of a concern as high risk items such as ceramic mugs glazed with lead oxide which are regularly sampled and tested. The manufacturing firm or distributor may be subject to inspection by a consumer safety officer and the FDA may issue a warning letter, product recall, or injunction should they find a product to be in violation. Great quality product!

I love this thing and it needs more stars. This thing spins so easy and the quality for the price s great! I use it every day. I have 3 others but this one is my favorite. It is made of aluminum and not cheap plastic so it has some weight to it but not too heavy. It fits easily in the cabinets as well and it’s so easy to use. I love that it looks pretty too for my pictures.

Bought it because of the review of the smoothness of the turn table cake stand and did not disappoint. Super smooth and quiet 2 direction functionality. The bonus decorating items that came with it were also nice to have. I took the advice of a few reviews and do protect the stainless from cut marks. Pretty enough to keep the cake on it to serve if you like. Really like the circular guidelines on the top to help center cakes. Excellent product. packaging is also wonderful to keep it safely stored.
