Unlike Wooster, Purdy won't tell you.  Wooster has 60% Brown China bristle and 40% ox with chisel construction.

Use Paint thinner, mineral spirits, or kerosene preferably; but any petroleum based distillate will work in a pinch.

Use a jar, bucket, or clean paint can and put enough of your distillate of choice to cover the bristles up to the metal shank.

Now... dab the brush on the bottom of your can or bucket holding it by the handle. Other words take the brush and remain holding it and smush the bristles straight down on the bottom of the can rapidly. Use just enough force to be bend the bristles in one direction but not where they go every direction.

Dab it a couple times, pull it out the can or bucket and turn the brush with bristles pointing upwards and with your other hand grasp around the bristles above the shank, and bend the bristles squeezing out the dirty distillate. Take a rag and clean the shank as the paint and distillate will run down the shank and handle. Gloves might be needed if you have sensitive skin.

Do this 3 or 4 times change out your distillate to clean, new distillate and repeat going thru 3 to 4 changes of distillate. If possible spin, sling or pat out the brush bewteen changes of cleaner.
 For extra gunky brushes with dried paint or varnish, stain, Clearcoat etc use a wire brush and brush from shank to tips of bristles during the dunking process.

For those that say that damages the bristles, yes over time it can but brushes aren't made to last forever.

Cleaning it as I described above removes all the paint up near the shank, that if cleaned simply by dipping in a distillate then left to dry as others proclaim, dries and hardens and essentially makes the length of your bristles shorter because the top portion of bristles turns into one solid block that won't hold paint.

Spin or kick out the bristles, comb the bristles, then replace brush in cover which also is essential as the cover keeps the bristles in the shape of a brush as they dry.

For latex brushes clean the same way substituting the distillates and can for a sink and faucet or a water hose in the yard.

Is there any reason this brush should not be used with latex paints? will it be use this brush with latex?

This is a natural hair product. After you wash your hair it gets all limp. China bristle does the same thing because it’s made of hog hair. I have not used this brush but I would imagine goat hair will do the same thing. It might work fine for a little while, but the longer it’s in a water based paint it will lose its shape.
