is this product made in japan or china?

This product, as purchased last year, was made in Japan. It has "Made In Japan" stamped into it just like graphical description, and quality is first class/5 stars.

Would these grab mussel beards to debeard?

I don't think this would be effective for that purpose. I am a chef and the object with mussel beards is to separate the beard at the root. The best way to do this is by hand as you are able to fully grasp the exposed beard and pull all strands simultaneously thereby increasing the chance of complete separation at the root. This tweezer is a great tool for pin bones but would likely tear the beard strands instead of gripping them strongly enough to achieve separation at the root.

do you use these to debone raw fish or after it's already cooked?

That's raw fish. You don't want bones in a cooked fish.

Great product

I love these. Used to use pliers to pull pin bones but these tweezers are waaaayyy faster and easier to use.

Works as advertised

Great product. I was using a hemostat to pull fish bones but it would not grip well. I purchased the Kwizing Fish Bone Tweezers and found it to effectively extract the bones. I keep a small cup with water near by and rinse the tweezers every so often. The product has a good gripe and works amazing well. I would recommend it.

Sturdy, Effective, but a Little Large

These tweezers work as they should, but they are rather large. This makes it very easy to clean, but a little unhandy to use when removing the smallest bones. The tip could have been a little more compact, allowing for more precise manipulation. However, the upturn of this is that the tip does close together perfectly, resulting in less slipping. So there are pros and cons.
