Does this connect direct to ipad?

It connects to my internet which I dont have on my iPad and then it connects to the square stand so when you make a transaction through the square stand it operates, dont think it would function without the square stand.

Does this drawer operate with an Apple computer and if so, how do you set it up?

The drawer integrates with your receipt printer, not directly with any type of computer. If your receipt printer works with Apple, this drawer will work with that receipt printer, as long as the receipt printer has the port that connects to this drawer (looks like a telephone cable port). I can confirm the Star Micronics TSP100 line of receipt printers work perfectly with this drawer.

Top quality and extremely durable

This cash drawer is made out of stainless steel body and the inside is very sturdy and well built. In case you have a problem with connecting it to register or the printer for the automatic open ; the main culprit is the ( ethernet cable supplied) change it or buy a different one and it will work.

I recently opened business and I got an Android tablet to use with the Square POS system. Majority of Square POS systems, I've noticed are being used hand in hand with the Apple iPad. So I had to do quite a bit of research to find out which cash drawer and receipt printer was compatible with the Android. This cash drawer is great with an Android and can be used along with a USB receipt printer. The Star TSP 100 series in particular. It came with a pair of keys to use when one wants to open the drawer manually and also came with the appropriate cable necessary to connect with the USB receipt printer. For this cash drawer/receipt printer set up to be used with an Android, a USB on the go adapter is needed. I got the inateck card reader HUB.

This jams to open I received one where the metal Is out of place under the draw making the draw unable to just open smoothly The money slots are too small for notes thou adjusted Don’t recommend I needed it for my store opening huge inconvenience
