Why can't you change batteries in snake's head.  The phillips head screws turn but nothing happens.   Useless if you can't change batteries.

How can you change the batteries?

The batteries are fairly easy to change but there are a few tips that can be helpful.  First, you need 5 AAA batteries.  On the remote, simply unscrew teh battery compartment with a standard phillips head and replace 2 batteries.

There are 3 AAA batteries in the snake's head.  Turn the snak on its back and you'll see 4 large and 2 small screws.  Tip #1:  don't mess with the small screws.  The four large screws need ot be taken out.  If you look carefully at the screw head you'll see that the screws seem to require a triangle shaped screwdriver head.  Good luck finding one of those.  tip #2:  you can use a 2.5 mm slotted (i.e., regular flat head) screwdriver.  Take your time to carefully place the screwdriver tip into the triangle.  It should be a nice, tight fit.  Unscrew the four screws.

Next turn the snake right-side-up and gently pry the upper part of the head from the bottom. Tip #3:  be careful to not pull on the wires and if the lights for the eyes come out of their slots, simply press them back into place before reassembly.

Tip #4:  with the head cover removed, you'll see the tip of one battery in the first joint to the rear of the snake's head.  grasp the first joint with one hand, hold the head with your other hand and then gently slide the joint away from the head.  The entire battery will now be visible and replaceable.  Turn the snake over and you'll find 2 more AAA batteries in the bottom of the first joint.

After replacing the 3 batteries, reassemble and have fun.
