For me, this is the best beater I've ever hit my kick with. The adjustable plastic is perfect for tuning in the exact kick sound you like. The beater results in a very full sounding kick, lots of attack (if you want it) and plenty of low end from the foam. As others have said the foam can be misshapen by things being pressed against them so store carefully. They are quite a bit lighter feeling than most beaters, but with the adjustable weights they were very easy to get used to. I've played with many other beats and It's safe to say I will not purchase any others. This is the one!

I don't write very many reviews, but I am really impressed with this beater. This is a great beater if you know what you want from it. It is light, fast, and I love the attack. It reminds me of the Iron Cobra beaters, it is much lighter than the default beater than comes with the DW pedals. I like that it has a little more surface area due to the foam than the Iron Cobra beaters have. I get a similar tone to what I got from the wood Cobra beaters, with slightly more "thump" because of that added surface area. I am using an Evans AF patch and recommend using that or something similar like the Remo Falam Slam that is made of durable woven material otherwise as others have mentioned you will dent a clean head with the plastic portion of this beater. The harder patches like the AF and Falam Slam also help to add the "click" sound. I am using this beater on a DW 9000 series pedal and I play Rock (70s, 80s, 90s), Country, and Pop (mainly 80s pop). The attack of this beater really cuts through the mix well for me, and I can get attack or finesse out of it as needed.
