What a awesome little dickens
looks so cool and was a bear to install but functions well. Nice features with the ability to change the pre-programmed times and the override function is a nice touch. Like it so much I bought four more. Cant really justify the cost which is around 25 times the cost of a SPST but I guess if one leaves the heater on twice a year for 24hrs each time it might pay for itself. Buyer beware the amazon pic and other websites show a different pic than the one you will get for the 10/20/30/60. The bottom of the switch does not have a ugly notch by the locator led show in the pic. That switch is the 6161 500Watt version. You get just a little locator led on the bottom like the ones on the side, nice and clean look, no ugly notch. No issues with relay buzzing sound many find. wire it correctly and you should not have any issues. You do need a full circuit for this unit. If you do not have a neutral in the box on the same switch leg you can use another neutral from another circuit in the box since they are all tied in the panel box. If your switch is fed from the switch box your all set as you will have a neutral in the feed. Just bought a 5/10/15/30 timer because Leviton does not sell faceplates with minute markings only. Their change kit just has hashmarks, so if you change the timer presets to other than what's listed on your face plate you will have to buy a whole new switch if you want the markings correct. This worked out fine for me because I have money to piss away and will use the other switch for a different application. Leviton has a awesome warranty on this item. For 5 years is will be covered so keep your amazon sales receipt. Leviton had been very good in the past on honoring there products with hassle free returns not like years ago. I was once a singer in a rock 'n roll band when I returned home from Vietnam and we used many switches and back in the day the old timer switches were windup type. Many of them failed and they would just be replaced because there was no warranties. it's nice to see now items like these can be returned now under warranty.

Works perfectly for the Panasonic Whisper Quiet fan in my bathroom.
I replaced my regular Decora light switch with this timer switch. For various reasons to exhaust odor or humidity after a long, hot shower it made sense for me to add something that we could set to run for a set time after using the room. Things to be aware of: first, you need to connect to the white (commonly) neutral wire so you may have to run one. I had the neutral running through the wall box any way so I just spliced into it. Second, the wires sticking out the back of the switch are thicker gauge than other switches I have encountered so if you are installing this into a shallow box, it may not work. the wires are thicker because this switch is rated for up to a 1 horsepower fan. The ones that I saw at my local hardware stores (Menards or Home Depot) were only rated for up to a 1/6 horse power fan. If you put a higher fan behind a 1/6 hp rated switch, it either runs much slower or not at all completely defeating the purpose. Installation for my instance was easy. I cannot comment on how easy or difficult it was to change the face plates to another color because I needed white which was installed out of the box. I also cannot comment on how this works as a three-way switch only to say that the instructions did have an example where this can be installed in that configuration. Once installed, life was good. I like the little green light at the very bottom of the switch. In the dark, I know my light switches are to either side of this switch. You hear a reassuring solid "click" when turning this on or off. This was a part of a complete bathroom renovation. It didn't make sense to update everything and then cheap out on this feature. I have not been disappointed in this at all. It wasn't cheap but then again this does exactly what I need it to do.

Timer switch is great for a bath fan
Great switch. I have it on my bathroom fan to control the fan only (light is on its own switch). Its been on for about a month and works great. Its nice to be able to keep the fan on for 10-15 minutes after you get out of the shower without worrying about going back and turning it off. Install was pretty straightforward, if you know how to wire a switch. NOTE that you need to have a neutral wire at the switch for the timer to work. It also has a wire to run a 3-way switch, which I didn't use. (who uses 3-way switches on a fan???? Maybe if you had this on a light?) Anyway, make sure you have a decent amount of room in your switch box. This thing is kinda big (about the size of a GFCI outlet, maybe a bit bigger). (and I don't know why the one guy gave it a 3-star because he later found a 60 minute timer... I think an hour for a bath fan is too long... this one is perfect. And even if he likes another option better, it doesn't mean that this switch is bad...) UPDATE - switch is still working great after several months - I noticed in the manual that you can reprogram these switches... if you decide that you wanted to have a 60 minute timer you can go through a sequence of buttons to change it. You would have to relabel the buttons, but this is an option for those that change their mind and wish they had a 60 minute timer and then rate this switch real low.

The "Marriage Saver"
My husband leaves lights and exhaust fans on in every room, every time, for the past 23 years. I was so sick and tired of bickering over it, that I finally (I'm a slow learner apparently) had a genius idea one day - I will beat him at his own game - I will install digital TIMER switches on the lights and fans he leaves on most frequently, starting with the bathrooms. Fortunately, we have a neutral wire, so this timer switch installed easily and worked perfectly. And thankfully I was able to select how many minutes I wanted the buttons to be before I bought it here on amazon. I picked the one with the maximum time interval of 15 minutes. This works PERFECT for what I wanted them fore. Anyways, arguments are down to a minimum now, I do not have to worry about the exhaust fan running all day from 7am-5pm while we are at work when he leaves them on, and it actually is helping both of us realize that we take too long of showers. We always thought we were fast shower-ers, that is until the 15 minutes on the bathroom fan timer runs out! Now we have our showers down to about 8 minutes. For 2 dudes, that includes washing, shaving our faces and drying off. This timer not only has saved energy - literally and figuratively - but I am thinking our electric and water bills will decrease too now that we are more aware of the time we spent showering. Pretty cool if you ask me! tl;dr Its a good buy

Product Works as Expected - BUZZ/HUMM
The product was easy to install for a single switch application. Drawing the connections out on paper ensured it worked the first time. It does take up some space in the box but is doable. The only con is the price in that it is very expensive. Ordered another one for another kids bathroom. UPDATED 9/2/10 * Use Timer in the morning and it worked fine. * Pushed button that night and it made a buzz/humm noise for any time setting. * For each button green lights working but fan would not go on. * Installed three timers with same or similar fan within a few days. * Timers are about 4 months old. * No known power outages. * There is nothing else on the circuit like pumps, fluorescent lamps, etc. just some regular lights. * Cycled breaker with no effect, buzz/humm still there. * Checked wire connects and grounding. No visual or connector nut issues. * Timer has top button (no 1) and bottom button (5, off button). * Reset timer by pushing buttons 1 & 3 until light on 5th button turned amber. Pressed button 3 to set timer and then pressed off (5) button. * Waited and tried timer, buzz/humm noise continued. * Reset timer by pushing buttons 1 & 3 until light on 5th button turned amber. Pressed button 3 to set timer and did not touch any other buttons. The fan was on with no noise. I let the timer run the 30 minutes and shut off. * Waited and tried timer, pressed 10 minutes, fan worked with no buzz/humm. * Pressed off and fan went off. * Next morning used timer and it worked fine. * Time will tell if this fixed the problem or if it was just luck.

Best pushbutton timer switch I found
I noticed that folks who use our powder room tend to leave the fan on when they're finished doing their business. Unacceptable! Seriously, I figured there had to be a solution. First, I went to a big-box store and bought a Lutron timer switch. High-quality and pretty but kind of a pain to use because you have to tap it multiple times and look at the lights to see how long the fan will stay on and guests and workers don't need something that requires training, no matter how simple. So I moved that switch to another potty and ordered this switch from Amazon. It was less expensive than the Lutron and has big buttons for each timer interval. Yay! Installing it was pretty easy since I had already dug out the neutral wire for the Lutron switch. If you're blessed to have a new-enough house (mine is 30 years old), you should find a capped-off bundle of white wires in the back of the outlet box. If you have 12 gauge copper wire like I do, be prepared for a finger and knuckle workout while you try to uncap, and re-cap that bundle; same for the ground wires, which this switch also needs. Make sure you have good-size wire nuts handy as well, as you shouldn't re-use the old ones. This switch comes with stranded wires, including a traveler for 3-way installation that hardly anyone needs. It's nicely capped off and you should leave it that way. When using wire nuts, stick the stranded one in first, all the way, and then stick the solid house wire into the nut and twist tight. If you do a bunch of these, get ready for some hand cramps. So after all that, you can turn on the fan (or any other device) with a single push of a button. A nice bonus is that if you hold any button down for a few seconds, the timer is disabled and the fan will stay on until you turn it off. The other nice thing about this particular switch is that it's easy to press in the dark and feels just like a regular light switch. I even ordered a second one for my other bathroom but can't bring myself to part with the pretty Lutron in bathroom #3.

Great Timer Switch... (Update Nov. 2019, buzzed...)
UPDATE: Nov 2019 As my last comment in the original review said, I'm back to report.....1 of the switches just started to buzz. It just started, as in 1 time it was fine, the next it's buzzed. It's been about 6 years of perfect function so... The buzzing is bad enough I won't run it, not knowing what it's buzzing or if it's a hazard. Once I got the first, I started installing others. The time intervals of this switch is perfect for exhaust fans in bathrooms and other rooms. So far, they work great, very well made and nice to have 3 different color face plates, although in most cases, 1 will be used and other 2 never needed. We're doing a phased remodel and changing all switches and reciprocals and using Leviton components for color consistency. Other review report the switches starting to buzz very loudly in time. I'll update is that happens, but so far so good!!

BEYOND EXCELLENT - BATHROOM FAN USE
I normally find Leviton to be a bit thin and flimsy brand on the consumer level products for a price driven market and as a professional I buy something of higher quality. This is different. I like the build quality. I use this for the bathroom fans and you press the 10 minute button for "a number two" and after a shower in the winter a 30 minute and 1 hour in the summer. You can also press it later in the schedule for resetting it. The design is sleek and it blows all the other timers that all eventually broke totally out of the water. Every bathroom fan should have this. With that said, its DECORA sized so if your light switch is not a Decora, you need a Decora light switch replacement to find a cover plate for a double gang. We use a dimmer on the bathroom lights. I.E. Way easier on the eyes at 2am. I prefer the Lutron Maestro on all ceiling lights in the house. Only had to change 2 down light PAR lamps in 23 years because it ramps up the power and ramps down the power.
