I meant to ask if you can use it in trails and frozen lakes covered with a little snow

They are just like any other ski except shorter. The softer the snow, the less effective they will be. I don't know how they would do on ice though.

Is there a metal edge? Pictures don’t really make it clear to see. Are you still happy with these?

The edges are metal and the quality seems to be on par with our Atomic and Head skis. We got these in February last year, shortly before the MI ski season ended, so they’ve only been used a few times. So far we’re happy with them. My husband likes the idea of switching back and forth between his regular skis and these depending which kids he’s skiing with.

Can you replace the binding with more traditional ski bindings?

Possibly, but you don't need to. I have never had a problem with them coming off when I don't want to, and I have accidentally been buried to my waist with them on. The locking mechanism is pretty solid, and they have a leash on either side to hold on to your boot incase they do release.

Can you use these on trails for snowboards or will they not be effective?

My husband uses them for downhill skiing and they can be used on flat surfaces. They have a harder time with powder as they lack surface area. The video is him on a groomed intermediate run.
