Refurbished and not even well
The metal shielding on the drive that protects the motherboard was bent in many places. The ribbon cables were bent up. There was obvious scratches and dirt on the drive, from what I don't know since it should be inside a PS4. There was glue on one of the screws that kept the metal shielding in place which is stupid since I had to replace the motherboard anyway so they tried to prevent that from being possible. And in the end the drive didn't work.

Swapping your PS4 optical drive? Read this.
Just to be clear, if you're replacing your original PS4 optical drive, you need to do two things:1. You must check the model number of your original PS4 optical drive. There are four models: BDP-010, BDP-015, BDP-020, and BDP-025. Your replacement optical drive must match the model originally installed in your PS4 console, with the exception of BDP-020 and BDP-025, which are cross-compatible. Depending on the drive, you might have to remove the daughter board to find the model number.2. The optical drive daughter board and PS4 motherboard are paired. Swap your original optical drive daughter board into a compatible replacement optical drive.A lot of the negative reviews here are from people who didn't check the drive model number or swap the daughter board to the replacement drive. It's a pretty easy swap. You just have to remove the metal shields from the drives and remove the daughter boards, which have three ribbon cables that connect to the mechanical part of the optical drive. Just swap the board to the new drive and make sure all three ribbon cables are attached to it. Trust me, it's easy.Hopefully this helps some people who think this is just a plug-and-play solution.

No new ps5
It works but it’s not plug and play you have to switch the daughter boards ( the chip board that is on the drive) and make sure it’s the correct bdp (bdp-20 in this case but there bdp-25 which would work too and bdp-10 and bdp-15 which can be swapped for each other but not bdp-20/25)number some guy on YouTube said you would have to solder the new chip to the old board but I skipped that and just switched the boards no soldering

Almost worked
I installed it and then it read the game to download but it wouldn't play the game the code it gave said it was the mother board because the drive and ps4 didn't match even though in the description had my ps4's model number.

Does the Job
Is an fairly easy install if you know your way around the inside of your PS4 or have ever had to change the drive in PS3.My issues with this particular drive was I was under the impression it was a new one when ordering it. However, literally EVERY screw on the drive was stripped. I had to twist the daughter board to free up the screw so I could catch it with a pair of tweezers and remove it. Thankfully I didn't need that particular part...If this was a "genuine SONY" and "new" product their productivity is crap when assembling these drives. The original drive in my PS4 didn't have issues with stripped screws...The drive works however so I am happy enough...
