Great Substrate - Just Clean Ground Shells
I just got a baby Ball Python. She was delivered July 1st. That put her at 4 weeks old. I had purchased some other coconut bedding on Amazon. It was cheap and came compacted. It took me over an hour to break it up without adding water. It contained ground up shells with the outer fiber of the shells and other fillers. I have two Zilla Rock Liars, a medium and large. Those are filled with damp moss. Those work great for humidity snake hides. Ball Pythons are nocturnal, they only come out at night. I set up a motion detecting video camera and had no capture of my snake after 7 nights. One night I captured her coming out of a hide on the original coconut substrate. When she hit that she turned around and went back inside the hide. She seemed to dislike all the fiber and other stuff in the cheap substrate. I ordered some of the BabiChip Coconut Chip Substrate. Based on the photo on Amazon itโs just nice clean coconut shells, no fiber or other junk. It is loosely packed and is just small chips of pre-cleaned coconut shells. After a substrate change to BabiChip my baby Ball Python now comes out every night and cruises her enclosure. The parent of BabiChip is ReptiChip. Same clean substrate just a larger chip size. A little more expensive but you get what you pay for. I will pay the extra cost for ReptiChip and BabiChip a much cleaner substrate for my snake. The proof Iโve seen in my own videos.

Good Quality
This is great quality. Clean, not dusty, holds moisture and smell fresh. The only problem was it was too sharp and pokey for my 5.5 foot long adult corns snake. So I tried the microchip coco substrate and that was perfect. I will be buying more microchip.

Love it
4 bags was just enough to give a few inches of cover in my boaโs new 6x3 grow tent. Iโve always loved reptichip and the babichip is my favorite chip size. Of course the compressed normal chip block wouldโve been half the price but this is just a preference. This product has a nice refreshing smell, nothing weird, also Iโve never had a problem with this problem molding or already containing bad stuff.

The best substrate for humidity & ball pythons
(3ft pvc enclosure for reference$ The best coco husk substrate Iโve found, It holds moisture well for humidity purposes and my ball python likes it. It also looks nice. I like the size of these โchipsโ compared to other coco husk substrates that are larger chunks. I feel like this is good for my animal. I do freeze all of my substrate for a day whether itโs overnight or in the morning and then change my substrate at night. This prevents mites that can harm your reptiles.

Great chunky mix additive
I really like the smaller coconut husk chips as an amendment for my chunky potting mix for my plants. This was the perfect size and the quality is nice! Easy to use for what I needed it for as well. Itโs advertised as a compressed brick that has to be wet to expand, but it was already seemingly ready to use and in a bag. I was a little confused by that at first, but I think it was the correct amount so I guess itโs fine.

Boa approved
Boa and kingsnake approved actually. The benefit is that you can adjust the humidity needed by how much you spray it. Plus it spot cleans nicely. It also passes floor heat up to the snake better than just about any other particulate substrate. HINT: Get a screen top for a glass tank and use it to screen the chips before using. Removes nearly all dust.
