Depends on your cooking skills
It is helpful if you are just beginning to cook and really need a pan to walk you through the basics. However, as my husband quickly pointed out, when you thrown cold meat in a hot pan - duh - the temperature decreases - "do you really need an app to tell you that?" After that discussion, I was a little disappointed that there were not more recipes on the app, I did get some get cooking tips from the local grocery store (Harris Teeter) so there may be some better paces that people can get some cooking assistance but this pan and your phone can help.

I'm now a Fire Bender - a quick review from a non cook user.
Prior to buying the pan, I had an excellent resume in cook background, most notably I'm well known for my excellent skill in cooking a perfect instant noodle, boiling water to an acceptable temperature and making a wonderful and tasty hard-boiled egg. I was proud of these 3 holy grail cooking skills :)On a serious note, I never cook. I'm surrounded by people who love to cook, a lot of them are a great cook actually. And for some reasons even though I can't cook, one of the so many shows I love to attend on a cruise is a cook show. And I love Food Network too. There has been a yearning to learn but for a few reasons I just never did. Until I bought Pantelligent.Pantelligent is awesome. As someone who had never cook before -and I don't consider myself a cook even though I have cooked stuff that I had never dreamt of before- Pantelligent helps me to learn one of the many basic elements in cooking, which is the temperature and why it is important. Prior to this whenever I cooked the three things above, I always set my fire all the way to maximum because of course it's the manly thing to do :) With Pantelligent, -for instance- I'm now able to understand how the stove works, why the heat drops after flipping a salmon and what to do with it, now I don't have to raise the pan when the heat is too hot, now I can control the fire. I'm now a fire bender. But of course, cooking everyday makes my wife happy, she doesn't need to cook everyday no more and can use the extra times to pursue an advance skills in Candy Crush while enjoying a perfect cooked salmon. Everyone is happy.

Awful cook here. Pantelligent was a godsend.
I must admit: I'm an awful cook. I routinely mess up even the simplest recipes. Pantelligent has been a godsend...With the built-in recipes and Pantelligent's help, I've been able to expand my cooking repertoire by infinity percent. I've learned to make some simple dishes (eg. scrambled eggs and bacon) even better than before. I've learned how to make a whole host of dishes that I never would've attempted previously (eg. scallops). And I've made perfect salmon filets for a romantic date with my wife (she loved it... bonus: the salmon was restaurant quality!).If you're an awful cook, or if you just want to get better... Pantelligent is a great learning tool. Plus, it still works great as a plain 'ole pan as you get better at cooking unassisted (though the temperature measurements are still useful even without the recipes!). This is one of those few cases where adding smarts to the device makes perfect sense! Well worth the cost.

The recipes are excellent - perfect fried eggs (you can choose over easy
We use our Pantelligent at least once or twice a week. The recipes are excellent - perfect fried eggs (you can choose over easy, medium, or hard), grilled cheese, etc. Siri tells you exactly when to flip for it to come out perfect. We use "freestyle" mode whenever we're cooking something from our own archive - it's great to get an audible cue when the heat is too low or too high … or *way* too high, before you ruin something. It's hand wash only, but the non-stick surface means it cleans up easily. It seems pretty durable too - we store it with our other cookware (minding the surface, of course), and it has survived just fine. Some recipes require a lid. We've just set an oversized wok lid over it, and that has worked fine. But, if you want to look for one that fits, the pan is 11 inches in diameter inside the rim at the top.

Cooking for over 20 years. Making food better than ever with a smart pan!
I have owned Pantelligent for a few months now, and it is truly one smart pan! Although I've been cooking for many years now, it really has been fun and easy making the recipes with the app. It's amazing - the food comes out perfectly over and over again. I've used it too when I've been making many dishes for a party, and it's as if I've had a friend in the kitchen overseeing the food in the pan for me. My husband loves it too. He insists that I use Pantelligent whenever we make fish (something we do several times a week - the fish comes out delicious!), and he also especially loves the crepes I was never able to make before. I can't imagine now cooking without it. I'm currently buying some of these for a co-worker getting married, and a relative going off to his first apartment. They will love it!

More than just a frying pan
This frying pan isn't just a great way to prepare salmon perfectly every time, it's a great conversation piece in your kitchen. People love it, can't stop talking about it, and want to see it in action. But it's more than just a gimmick: the built-in recipes in the companion app have me preparing recipes I normally wouldn't have attempted, which is a great solution for "What should I make for dinner tonight?", and I can do so with the confidence of knowing that they'll be cooked appropriately.
