Lipper International Bamboo Wood Over-the-Counter-Edge Kitchen Cutting and Serving Board, 17-5/8" x 13-7/8" x 2"

We've owned this cutting board for 6 years and I'm finally looking to replace it (with another of the same). The lip warped and does not sit flush against the board anymore but that did not effect its purpose of keeping the board in place on our granite counter tops. We have other cutting boards with no lip and rubber feet, but those still feel unstable in comparison. The cutting surface has held up over the last 6 years, but has finally chipped off in one small spot. The board will still be used as a spare but I'm guessing it will continue to chip if we keep using it as our primary cutting board. $20 for 6+ years is pretty amazing to me. I'm not sure if we're just lucky in comparison to other reviewers but we have not sanded or oiled this cutting board at all. Furthermore we've rinse and wash it many times (though we've never left it soaking, just surface washing).

This is the 2nd of these that I have purchased. I had new Quartz countertops and I didn't want to set my air fryer directly on the countertop so I put this under it. I just bought this 2nd one for an electric pressure canner to protect the countertop from excessive heat. These are really well made and they are heavy. I love the 'lip' on it to secure it on the countertop. I haven't used it as a cutting board but I recommend it for countertop protection.

We've had this a couple of years and used it as is very successfully. WEe have kept it on our counter permenantly. It still looks new from 3 feet away. I guess it's the bamboo, because I have never seen a wood cutting board look so good after even a fraction of the use.We bought one for my mother this Christmas. She said she put rubber feet on it. We did the same and now find that it is even more secure on the counter.We have not oiled it as regularly as we probably should have. I think we've done it maybe 3 times. But we use it daily for all manner of prep and assembly. It gets a lot of moisture. Now we notice it is warping. I am now trying not to let moisture stand on it and am trying to remmber to oil it monthly. I'm not sure if this would have changed the outcome, but WHEN we replace it with the same cutting board, I will take better care of it.

This is an amended review as of 3/9/15. I dropped the star rating down to one as of today. This is the second cutting board of this type and by this company. The first one was defective with a huge crack in the middle. They sent the secone one with a crack on the front lip. I repaired it and was alright with that. But after the first washing. The putty they used to cover that crack was filled with water soluable wood putty. Of course that washed out when I washed the board the very first time. I am sending this back for a refund and will never buy from this shady company again.This is the second time I have received this cutting board. The first one had a huge crack across the top and requested a replacement. Cracks in a cutting board is asking for food poisoning. Amazon graciously sent a replacement. The initial reveiw is on the replacement. The fit and finish is second rate at best. I am having to sand it myself to keep from getting splinters along the grove in the top. There are two dents on the top edge, one on each side. The lip is edge glued and there is a seam crack. I am going to drill and add screws to make sure the glue doesn't let go. I am hoping that my efforts will justify the initial cost of this cutting board. I will update further if other issues arise. It is obvious that there is a risk of buying this cutting board. Design is good enough, construction not so much. Might want to look at other options.

First off, this is an over the edge of the counter cutting board. The lip that goes over the edge of the counter is 2 inches, the cutting board itself is 1 inch thick. I bought this board specifically for the over the edge of the counter component, what a great food prep tool!However, this cutting board requires A LOT OF WORK to get ready for it's first use. As with all wood products you must use a mineral oil to keep the bamboo from cracking and absorbing moisture.This cutting board has not been previously treated with oil, it sucked the mineral oil up, the good news is it is a beautiful shade of bamboo when treated, a full shade or two darker than pictured.The bad news as I was treating this product with oil, it started SPLINTERING!!!!! The inside of the lip splintered and a couple of the far top edges started chipping. I assume it chipped and splintered because it hasn't been pretreated with oil. I sanded the affected parts down and treated with mineral oil again (the first oil treatment should be done 24 hours apart anyways).I now have a gorgeous over the edge of the counter cutting board that works beautifully for food prep, but oh my! That was a lot of work for it's first use! I've only been using for a month now and it is fantastic so far. This board as with all other wood products for your kitchen should be treated with mineral/bamboo oil every month or depending on frequency of use.For the amount of pre-prep required for first use of the cutting board is why I'm only giving this board 3 stars. I would recommend seeing if Amazon Warehouse Deals has a Like-New version for purchase so you can save some money (they're generally customer returns). However, once the pre-prep is done and you are using the board for food prep it is definitely worth 5 stars!

I shopped everywhere for an over-the-lip-of-counter chopping board. The only ones I found were on line, custom made, and very pricey. This one is an amazing price, and very nice looking bamboo. I took the advice of previous reviewers and bought a good quality food grade oil to keep the wood conditioned. i do notice a hairline crack starting to show, and will probably sand it down and re-oil . But overall it is a great product; practical and stylish. Might even purchase another in the near future.
