Bought for the look, kept for the comfort
My husband absolutely LOVES these boots! I originally bought them for a Renaissance Faire outfit, but they've become his everyday shoes because they're honestly the most comfortable shoes he's ever owned. He has very flat feet and usually struggles to find shoes he can wear all day without discomfort. After just one day in these, he told me they were the most comfortable shoes he's ever had. Since they arrived, he's worn them every single day, whether he's working, running errands, or just around town. I was also pleasantly surprised by how versatile they are. They fit our Renaissance Faire outfits perfectly without looking like cheap costume boots, but they also look completely at home with jeans and a T-shirt. They have that rugged, outdoorsy look that works with just about anything. The quality is excellent, they feel well made, and after seeing how happy he's been with them, I have a feeling we'll just be buying different colors of the same boot from now on. They're definitely worth the investment if comfort is your top priority!

Great Boots!
KEEN continues to innovate some of the best boots and shoes in the industry from its US based design center, and builds with craftsmanship, durability, eco-friendly PFAS-free materials, and ethical sourcing. Some of their products are US made, but the Targhee series is designed in the US and expertly made first in Cambodia and now in Thailand. The Targhee line is backed by KEEN’s lifetime warranty against delamination and structural failure. I’ve never had to use their warranty personally but KEEN gets consistently good reviews from many customers for their service and for standing behind their products. In determining which Targhee boots I wanted to purchase, I ordered boots from the three available Targhee series II, III, and IV in regular and wide sizes. With regard to fitment, I found the three Targhee boots to run true to size. I’m 5’9” and 180lbs. I normally wear a 10.5R, and found that size the best fit for me after also trying 10W and 10.5W. I’m also not a true W, I just like a little more room. I usually wear lighter socks than many people do (Darn Tough Micro Crew Lite). The Targhee’s already have a bit more room in the toe box than average boots, so keep that in mind if you are between W and R. They all fit me much better than the more narrow European boots like LOWA or ASOLO do. While shopping for boots this year, I tried multiple styles and sizes of these European boots and none of them worked for me at all, they were all too narrow as well as tight and stiff. I also looked at MERELL’s MOAB series, which is a close competitor of the KEEN. The MOABs are comfortable but a bit more sneaker-like, and the quality and aesthetics wasn’t quite to the KEEN standards for a comparable price. Targhee II Second generation of a tried and tested comfortable all-around, multi-use boot with a roomy toe box and reliable KEEN.DRY waterproofing and a lug outsole that grips everything from muddy trail to rock. Not a true rock boot, nor designed for heavy load carrying over rough terrain, but better suited to most general use than a firmer, heavier, dedicated mountaineering boot. A good looking boot that can be worn casually and breaks in quickly and is comfortable immediately. Often available at a discount since there are two subsequent models now available. Cloth nylon lace eyelets and a plastic lace speed-hook. 590g weight each boot. Targhee III Leaned into a sleeker profile, almost 2 oz lighter than the II, or 3 oz lighter than the IV, with a streamlined outsole and midsole. Some synthetic where the II was leather, and leather where II was synthetic. It retains the same waterproofing and all‑terrain traction, yet offers a slightly more versatile profile for both trail and everyday wear. Has the most visible leather of the series. Leather lace eyelets and a metal lace speed-hook. 540g weight each boot, so the III is by far the lightest of the three. Targhee IV Combines the best of both worlds: the II’s supportive yet roomy fit with III’s updates but built taking into account all of what KEEN learned from the prior three iterations of Targhee. The main innovation of this boot is KEEN’s new FUSION construction, which fuses upper and sole without adhesive to prevent delamination, also includes a long‑lasting LuftCell midsole and a rugged outsole designed to outlast its predecessors. The new outsole is also a slightly translucent smoke color vs. the prior opaque black, which looks nice. Three-tone uppers and a lighter olive leather liven and lighten up the appearance. Back to nylon cloth lace eyelets and a metal lace speed-hook. They also gain the weight back the III series dropped. 620 weight each boot, heaviest of the three. While all three KEENs were comfortable right out of the box, I read several reviews about customers adding higher-end KEEN insoles. Subsequently, I bought the K-30, Medium Arch, Outdoor insoles in Large and found them superior to the original insoles. I found they fit precisely after easily trimming to my size along the marked 10.5 line, and provided additional cushion, arch support, and some added lateral stability. While expensive (at a quarter the cost of the boot!!!) the insoles were noticeably better, particularly with gel in the pad and heel. So, should KEEN include them in the first place and just increase the boot price? The original insoles are not bad, just not as good as the upgrades, so it’s hard to say. I’d definitely pay $20 more for the upgrade, but $40 additional as purchased really is a bit much! Also, they weigh the same 57g as the original insoles. In summary, I found things I liked about each of the Targhee models and, while I can appreciate the evolutionary improvements, I’d be happy with any of the three Targhee boots. The Targhee II is a seriously good value since it can often be found at a discount due to newer models being out. The III is noticeably lighter and has a more muted appearance, with more visible leather. However, I ended up keeping the more expensive and heavier IV because of liking the visual style and having an appreciation for the innovations KEEN has made building on their success, and learning from the prior generations. I buy boots very infrequently, so I also didn’t want to save a few bucks and wish I’d gotten the newer model for years after. If you just burn through boots with mileage, the II series is probably where you should look, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the three if something grabs you about one of them. They are all great boots!

18 month review. Bravo Keen
*** 18 month review *** Bravo Keen, Bravo. Maybe my favorite footwear ever. This purchase is my 2nd pair of the exact same size and color. I don't even need them yet they are still in the box while I continue to milk the first pair. I just wanted to make sure when the first pair died I could continue to wear the same shoes ongoing. That's how much I like these, thats me standing up and applauding Keen. I paid full price for both pairs. First pair review: - Comfortable daily shoes I wear almost every day the last 18 months. - Look great except for that goofy (& functional) Keen toebox. - Perfect footbed for my feet, one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. - I've worn these hiking in the Rocky Mountains and tromping through Minnesota snow walking the dog every day. There are many miles on these shoes and they are still going strong. - I think these look great. I love the Copper color and the materials look great. - The shoes are built tough. Uppers look really good after 18 months. Weak point is the sole separating @ the different layers of synthetic sole. Super Glue did fix it and the first pair is still going even though I've almost worn through one layer of black sole under the ball of my one foot. - Waterproofing is STILL strong was over the tops in ice melt earlier this year and water only came in from the top. -The GoreTex does breath pretty good. I can get sweaty feet but it's really not bad going 10 hours in these shoes. My wife doesn't complain about the smell of these compared to my tennis shoes. That's an indicator. So yah, I have a 2nd pair sitting in a box next to my desk because I was afraid Keen would change colors and I really like the copper color of these. I'll go another 2-3 years wearing the same shoe every day. Sounds pretty weird to describe it like that. I don't get OCD in other areas of my life, just these shoes... In addition to the extra pair, I got my wife a set of Keen hikers, and my 25 year old son. Bravo Keen! (and get better glue on the soles)

Great Monster Boot for Major Hiking
Retired Army Soldier who loves Hiking and Boots. I have a lot of Keens, Columbia and Merrills etc. Love the Targhee 2 Mid boot. Looks real nice. Nice big toe box and tight heel. It is not as pretty as the narrower Targhee 3 Mid BUT it makes up for that in quality, durability and down right great in dirt and rocks. Think 4x4. Would buy again. Recommended if you are patient. Cannot wear for serious hiking right out of the box as it will rub your ankles and is stiff. Pain. Not comfortable as the low quarters when new. I almost gave up until I read online how to properly break them in and that really worked. Took over 4 weeks. Long time! Deviate and you will regret it. They do get better over time. No serious Hiking at first. They are warm and even a little hot. Remember waterproof and stiff and Fall-Winter. Here is the process: 1) wear them for 5 days indoors w/o socks. Unlaced and then fully laced. Not tight. Let your feet sweat and mold them to your foot. Trains both the boot and your foot to the Mid level feel. Call them indoor slippers. 2) wear them another 5 days indoors but with light-medium hiking socks on and lightly but fully laced. Increases the training and you get used to them. You want them tighter BUT do not cut off circulation. I used non-binding diabetic socks with the wide tops. No sock top indentations. No cotton! 3) wear them another 5 days mostly indoor with heavier socks on (nonslip merino blend or better synthetic mix to avoid blisters - NO cotton at all), then fully, normally laced (pinky finger under each lace or less - not too tight or loose), but walk them outside to the mailbox many times, stairs or up & down the hard sidewalk for 30 mins. Short excursions then sit with boots on and sweat. 4) wear them again for another 5 days mixed indoor and longer outdoors (errands and stores) with med-heavy socks on, remember to sit and sweat afterwards. 5) Proof your successful breakin by walking 2 miles and maybe a few feet slow jogging. Remember to sit and sweat afterwards. Should be comfortable by now or you skipped in the process or your feet are really unique. And last 6) Go for several 5-10 mile hikes over varying terrain. You should start to love them like I did. If all okay, you are now ready for some serious Hiking 25-50 mile or more. Learn to lace up different ways and get Laces that don't slip and untie or use plastic stops. Be sure to take extra dry socks and enjoy the scenery! Yeah I know this is not Fast Food but for nearly $200 bucks, your feet deserve it. Now, I still prefer low quarter Targhees 2 & 3 and Merrill Moab 2s for short stuff. I like 6-8" high top boots for long backpack trips, ice/snow, deep water and for more overall support, esp in rocks and hills. Avoid sprains. But the Targhee 2 Mid fits the bill for in between Low and High. I found the Targhee 3 Mid too light, narrow, toe box smaller, soft and more suited for casual daily stuff, like the Mall and no backpacks. Felt too many rocks with them so no trail running. Wear them daily with jeans and on Sundays for the great look. Now, the Targhee 2 Mids can handle a backpack and a lot more difficult terrain. Love them Mid 2s after that long tedious breakin. BUT REMEMBER NOTHING IS PERFECT !!! AND THEY DON'T LAST FOREVER !!! Your feet will tell you what they like! Listen to your unique body. Don't injure your feet out in the wild. So carry tent, rain gear, water, food, protection and a good first aide kit. And a BUDDY. Hike on !!!

Updated review... Keen is junk with ZERO warranty support!
UPDATE: In the past, Keen was a good brand, with great durability. Now.... Keen is a worthless company when it comes to quality/durability, and warranty..........WARRANTY IS USELESS! Keen's warranty is so lopsided in favor of Keen, and you will never get anything from them under the warranty. My shoes literally fell apart within 4 months.... I contacted them about the warranty. Sent images, receipt images, screenshots of purchase info, and right from the start they throw up roadblocks. Went back and forth via email for a weeks.....pictures, and even video showing how badly the shoes fell apart..... they always have some excuse as to why the warranty won't cover it, EVERY time, a some point in an email or phone conversation this phrase came out..... "That is considered normal wear and tear, and is not covered under out warranty." WAY OVERPRICED SHOES, AND LESS THAN 6 MONHTS OF USABILITY BEFORE THEY HAVE FALLEN APART.....AND A WARRANTY THAT IS USELESS TO THE CUSTOMER! I don't know what happened to Keen, but they went from a good brand, to horrible in no time at all. If you buy Keen brand footwear, then make sure you buy a CASE of Shoe Goo, or similar product..... YOU WILL NEED IT! The lugs that wrap upward will be the first to start coming apart..... for me, it caused me to trip and fall! Even when you try to "glue" the lugs back in place, another one comes loose, and you spend more time trying to repair them then wear them! Shortly after the sole lugs start coming loose, the stitching starts coming out, and the soles tear away from the uppers. It's insane, trying to repair a shoe that for the high cost, should not be coming apart in the first place. Keen shoes/boots are without a doubt the most overpriced, poorest quality footwear I have ever seen! You'd be just about as well off to burn your money for warmth....because that's about how long these boots will last! UPDATED REVIEW: Less then 8 months with only wearing them about once a week, and the lugs have separated around the outside of BOTH soles! This is totally unacceptable for a shoe of this price! No way will I spend that kind of money for such lousy durability! NEVER AGAIN! THESE BOOTS ARE NOT TRUE TO SIZE! (They run small) I was looking at this boot through a local retailer, and glad I did. I tried on my normal size (11.5 W) and they were very small and tight. I asked to try on a 12W and it fit just right. They only had one pair of 12W at the store, and that pair had a defect that I wasn't willing to live with. I got home, looked on Amazon, and the same boots are $49 LESS! I ordered a pair of 12W, and they fit just right. This is day 1 with them on my feet, so we'll see how the comfort and durability holds up. If they start coming apart prematurely as others have stated in reviews, I will update my review/

Best. Boot. Ever.
Wish I could give more than 5/5 stars. Tried a few cheaper brand name boots available here on Amazon, and none of them were comfortable. Too narrow too wide too small etc. Glad I decided to pay a bit more because these are so very worth it, it seems. While I only have a couple hikes in on them, I believe they are not only the most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned, they may be the most comfortable foot wear I’ve owned period!! No break-in needed. The toe box at first appeared to be bulky (ok, roomy) and I feared it would be an issue but absolutely not. The boots are surprisingly lightweight. I got into a good amount of mud/wet and their performance was terrific. Only time will tell how they hold up. If they fail prematurely I’ll be updating this review.

Comfortable
Excellent product and they fit well. Hopefully, they will not begin to come uunglued at the sole like the previous pair (a different model).

Comfortably, rugged boots with good support
These boots are great! They are my second attempt at buying a pair of hiking boots and I am very happy with them. Let me share my story... I bought a pair of KEEN Gypsum mid-height boots a while back and ended up having to return them. The ankle was a little too high, and the top of the boot kept stabbing me in the side of my ankle causing some nerve irritation (not a blister), which was excruciating. It felt like my ankle was broken every time I would wear the boots for more than a few minutes. I tried walking around in them for a while to see if the problem got better, but it did not, so on the recommendation of an experienced hiker-friend of mine, I returned them and bought these. My girlfriend already had a pair of these and they had not given her any trouble at all. The ankle on these is a little lower than that of the Gypsum, which it turns out makes all the difference. No pain. The Targhee II also has reflective straps at the shoelaces and along the side and back of the boot, which will likely be really helpful when I go camping and am trying to find them late at night. The one part that I would say is a step down from the Gypsum is the little hook that holds your laces at the top of the ankle (I do not know what this is called). On the Gypsum these hooks are metal, but on the Targhee II they are plastic. If I had to bet, I would say that will be the first thing that fails on these boots, but I am not too worried given the number of great reviews they have. Otherwise the Targhee II fits very similarly to the Gypsum and feels about the same, but the ankle does not poke me so I have not experienced any pain whatsoever after wearing these for several days. The sole is nice and stiff and the tread brings home half our garden when my girlfriend and I go work on that, so it must be doing something right. I hosed them off after working in the garden (still on my feet) and my socks did not get wet, so the waterproofing seems to hold up. I am excited to take them hiking and camping and see how they hold up to some abuse.

painfull feet/heels when walking??...then look no futher.
If like me you suffer with painfull heels (plantar facilititus) and you like walking then its worth spending out on a pair of these. So confortable and supportive under the heel and general fit is really good. Generous in sizing and they don't make your feet look like " boats"!! I'm considering buying another pair and I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Perfect for winter!
One of the best purchases I have ever made! I was attracted by the high waterproofing quality, and of course, the sturdiness and I was not disappointed! My favourite fall and winter shoes, I will be getting another pair soon.
