I would recommend this book to the potential dog 🐕 owners and those that may be thinking about this breed, and have kids; please read the book, I thought I knew enough, but I had to think twice, I find, in most cases that my pet is taking me to school whatever I learned, I have to relearn double when he poops he takes me by the hand to his spot to clean it up because he doesn't want to smell it The dog thinks he's training me, picks up his bowl and brings it to me for water You have to be n your toes with this breed, definitely!

The Shiba Inu was declared to be a National Treasure of Japan in 1936, and in personality is a good match for the old samurai.In her book, Stephanie Strauss's love for the breed stands out like a beacon, but the book is a realistic appraisal as well as a training and care manual which allows us to evaluate this highly intelligent former hunting dog. This is not a lap dog and is definitely not a dog that will suit everyone, but for the right type of person the little extra trouble needed to keep this dog will be very well worth while.I recommend this book both to people who might be considering getting a Shiba Inu and to people who love dogs in general and simply was to learn more about an unusual bred.

This book will help those dog lovers specially for those who wants to have this kind of a dog. For anyone who's interested interested potential owners must explore this breed in more depth, else they might be making a big mistake. I wanted to have a dog like this before but my husband gave me a teacup puppy instead. It is very challenging to raise and train a dog but it is fun and exciting. Knowing the traits and behavior of a Shiba gave us a lot of ideas already on how you will be able to raise it. The advises,tips and guides are really helpful. I had my husband read this book also and we both now are interested in getting a Shiba Inu soon. I am so excited!

This book is well written and easy to read. It covers a lot of the main aspects of Shibas and how to train them. I wish that they had gone into a little bit more details and gave more specific strategies on how to train a Shiba. But overall, there were a lot of things in this book that I didn't know and I learned a lot. I just wish it had been a little more detailed and a little longer.

I am considering a shiba inu and this was a great read!I feel like I've gotten enough insight to use this as a foundation.

It's very basic guide, with only training on basic commands. Surprised it did not cover harnesses are best rather than collars, as Shiba Inu's necks to tend to be wider than their heads so normal collars can slip off.Very little on grooming or types of brush to use.If you want a basic guide it's good, but that saying there are very few books on this breed. Main point that comes across is they are not easy dogs to train, so you need to be patient and they will reward with a great friend.Would have given 5 stars if there was more content and not a soft back book.

Very useful, comprehensive guide. Must read before you getting a shiba puppy. Mature dog seems to be hard to adopt unless the previous owner had a good training on him/her.
