OXO Good Grips Classic Swipe Ice Cream Scoop

I bought this OXO Good Grips Classic Ice Cream Scoop to replace my old one, which had a plastic lever that broke after only a couple of years. We eat ice cream pretty regularly in this house, so when my old scoop bit the dust, I was very disappointed. A basic spoon just doesn’t cut it when you’re trying to get a perfectly round scoop with the right serving size. So naturally, I turned to Amazon for a new one.Let me tell you, this scoop is a game changer. First, it has a metal lever, so no more worrying about it breaking on me after a couple years of use. It’s also nice and heavy, which makes scooping even the most frozen, hard-as-a-rock ice cream a breeze. No more breaking a sweat trying to dig into that pint of mint chocolate chip! Plus, I’ve been tossing it in the dishwasher (top rack, of course) and it’s been holding up just fine.I honestly don’t see how anyone could find anything wrong with this scoop. It does its job, it’s sturdy, and it makes my ice cream indulgence a lot easier. If you’re still using that plastic lever scoop that’s on its last leg, it’s time to upgrade to this beauty. It’s totally worth it!

This ice cream scoop works great. Not difficult to use at all.

This ice cream scoop is good for so much more than scooping ice cream. I recently made zucchini fritters that the recipe suggested using a heaping tablespoon to spoon batter into the pan for frying. Really using a tablespoon there is no way to make fritters of equal size. By using this "ice cream scoop", the portions of batter put into the pan are a consistent size so the fritters are equal in size. The trigger makes it so easy to get all of the scoop into the pan at one time without having to move it with your finger or another spoon. Granted, this scoop is probably equal to 2 heaping tablespoons, but 2 each of the fritters were perfect for my husband and I with eggs and sausage patties.This scoop is so much easier to use than other methods for pancake batter, waffle batter, biscuits, dinner rolls, and so much more. This scoop make it so much easier to disperse portions of batter or dough to produce baked or fried batter items of equal size. This also helps to assure that all items are equally fried or baked since the sizes are consistent.To be honest, I haven't used this scoop for ice cream as yet, since it has so many other uses. It is so very helpful to have the tools to make any cooking easier. This is one of those tools.I hope this review was helpful for you.

I have been wanting a sturdy ice cream scoop with a trigger for some time, but for the longest time all I could find in stores were cheap-looking scoops with plastic triggers that I figured would not last long. Then I found this one. I loved the fact that it was all metal and appeared to be overall well-built. Evidently, I was mistaken. I went to scoop some ice cream out... and the thing snapped in half before I even got a single scoop! On closer inspection, it seems that the scoop was simply glued (albeit poorly) to the handle. I can't believe that OXO would release such a poorly-constructed product. I had high hopes for this product; unfortunately, I simply cannot recommend this product to anyone.EDIT: I reached out through the company's site and provided photos. They sent me a replacement with no further questions asked, and this time, it works beautifully (and I have used it multiple times)! I guess it was just a manufacturing defect in the original scoop. Either way, I had wonderful customer service, and I got the product that I initially hoped for. I can now say that I do recommend this product.

I love this ice cream scoop. It works so much better than the one it replaced. Ice cream pops out easily with a squeeze pf the handle.

Oxi always makes good quality kitchenware, and this ice cream scoop is no different. Very sturdy and easy to use.

They sure don't make them like they used to. A big spoon works better than this scoop.
