Peaceable Kingdom Old Maid Classic Card Game for Kids - 53 Cards with Box

What can you say about Old Maid? What's to not like? I bought two different card games from Peaceable KIngdom for Christmas presents, a big hit with both sets of kids. I also got the card holders so little hands could manage better ... that's a terrific product, too.

How could someone give one star to a beloved card game for young children? This deck truly deserves it as my grandchildren were so disappointed. The deck consists of 4 pictures of each, Jack, Queen, King of each suite( hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades) and one Old Maid. The remaining cards are numbered from 1-10 in each suite. The theme is the same, make a pair from the numbers. There are two pairs for each number. The kids missed the adorable and often funny pictures on the cards therefore. were less enthusiastic playing the game. The photo of the cards only shows the picture cards and I neglected to read the reviews.

Fun game you can use the deck for regular card games too. Easy for my 5 year old but my 3 year old needs some help.

I never played this game before, but my mom one day said that this was her favorite game when she was a kid. I have a 4yo girl and a 6yo boy, so I decided to give it a try and we really like it a lot. My kids have so much fun with it.

Another great game from Peaceable Kingdom!!! Though this is a classic game and not one of their creations, they did a great job with the quality of the paper and the graphics. I highly recommend all of PK's products!

These cards are OK, but be aware they are regular cards (i.e. with numbers 1 through 10 and Jack, Queen, King), as opposed to cute images like the other card sets this company makes. They also do not have any aces (!?), even though the instructions say you can play regular car games if you don't use the old maid...so not true. Also, they are the STIFFEST cards I've ever seen! You cannot shuffle them. We've been shuffling 1/2 deck at a time (with difficulty), and after probably 50 shuffles, still stiff as a board! A kid would not be able to shuffle these. I guess they'll be ok at some point. Love that they come in a box! We own the Go Fish set from same company and they are awesome and weren't stiff.

For a non-sexist alternative, play the one holding the Old Maid at the end of the game wins.
