Great addition to my 6 Reolink Camera’s
Update Nov 09/2020The Reolink NVR is still working great. I purchased two more Reolink RLC-520 cameras and just added them to the NVR for a total of 8 cameras now. With the 6x cameras there is enough hard drive space for approximately 3 weeks of recording time with all the cameras set to only record motion detection. Still very impressed with all the Reolink hardware I own.I was using the Reolink software and my laptop as an NVR for 4x RLC-520 camera’s. It did the job well. I decided to purchase 2x more RLC-520 camera’s and thought what the heck, buy this 8 Channel NVR.I am glad I did, I no longer have to worry about hard drive space on my laptop. I have the NVR in my COMMs room in the basement and really wanted the NVR up stairs in my living room connected to my TV but I didn’t want to run the CAT6 cables up and make more holes. I thought I would just use the web interface to go in and control/configure the NVR. What I did not realize was the Reolink software on my laptop recognized the NVR and the 6x channels being used by my camera’s so no more web interface, I can use the existing software and it works great with the NVR. Now all I have to do is buy an HDMI over Ethernet extender and connect the NVR to my TV by that means.

Amazing product with awesome customer support!
In this price range you can usually expect poor quality products with little to no customer support. Reolink has changed all that and are playing by different rules. The products are outstanding quality. I have the 8 channel NVR and 4 different model cameras and I continue to be impressed. The setup was amazingly simple and they just work. Image quality is amazing. After 10 months of continuous recording I did have a glitch with the harddrive in the NVR where it would disappear and come back after a reboot, these things happen. However I filed a support request on the Reolink website and within 12 hours they air shipped a replacement NVR, no questions asked. 48 hours later my NVR was replaced and I shipped back the original. This was not the quality of support I expected for a system in this price range, that's usually the response reserved for very high end systems. I've suggested Reolink products to may of my family and friends based on initial quality and easy setup. I'm also very relieved that they will be looked after during the warranty as well. Background: I was a service manager for a video surveillance installation company during the last of the analog video years. There was never a system, even extremely high end ones, that was this easy to use and provided this quality.

Definitely worth it
I received the N3MB01 model which is the latest as of October 2021. The model supports up to 6TB of HDD space internally and 6TB externally. It also supports all the 8MP cameras. I think the 12MP cameras are also supported but those have been discontinued. The system is definitely worth the price. It has not had a hiccup once. It can record 24/7 and can also track motions on top so you know when vehicle/people/motion events happen. The AI is kind of funky, like cars being picked up as people and vice versa. But they are continuously working on improving the AI so I'm not that worried and if you don't point the cameras at a busy road the AI works perfectly fine. This unit gives you the ability to upgrade/downgrade the firmware so it's great. Two 8MP cameras seem to allow for about two weeks of recording at max resolution I think. At 3 or more cameras you definitely need to upgrade your included 2TB HDD if you want more than two weeks going back. The system works both through phone (data works as well so you can be far away from home), desktop client, and the NVR. The overall setup for how you can view the cameras is excellent. The software all around is very good, especially the phone application. Better than Wyze by about 5000 times, you can even easily download footage to your phone/computer/USB(through NVR) without any fuss. The unit also doesn't make noise when it runs. If you go up close to it you can maybe hear the fan and HDD working but otherwise nothing.

so-so overall but do not buy for motion detection
I bought this to record 2 existing Reolink cameras I already had installed. Installation was straightforward, but the NVR's user interface leaves something to be desired, I found it somewhat awkward. I bought this because buying another NAS drive was going to be a more expensive alternative. This NVR has built-in POE circuitry, a nice option, as I prefer to pull cable for my cameras. Makes for a simple and reliable configuration. The motion detection in the NVR is a joke, it generates way too many false alarms. This is because its algorithm is not appropriate for what it was intended for. I've just bought two more Reolink cameras which have built-in person/vehicle motion detection.UPDATE: It's been 9 months since installing this NVR and using 520A Reolink cameras with it. The NVR records reliably. Retrieving recorded video is hit and miss, sometimes recordings are truncated (45 minutes of footage but user interface says it's an hour long). I learned the hard way that the camera's motion detection settings are intimately tied to the NVR firmware. When camera bugs are fixed, then the NVR sometimes need a firmware update also. Reolink will not tell you this, you must be relentless with them to get all problems fixed properly. Reolink is not very competent on software, so expect problems.

Worked with my Wifi Reolink Cameras
It eventually worked with my cameras. One has to scroll to the right and enter the passwords for each camera. That was not clear when I was first setting it up as the field to enter the passwords is out of sight. The nvr works well but its native software is a bit clunky to use. Using the app on the phone makes the experience a bit easier. This NVR makes it possible to see my cameras when I am using data instead of WIFI. Prior to this NVR, with my current phone and service provider, I was unable to see the cameras over data (the only brand that did not work). Now I can so that is a big bonus for this purchase. Overall I am pleased with this NVR. I repurposed an old monitor so that the cameras are displayed in my office full time. All the cameras I am using on this NVR are Reolink. It did not pick up any of my other wireless cameras of different brands (none of which are onvif compliant to my knowledge)
