1920's Dresses Pattern - Rocking Horse Farm #143

I do costuming for local High School musicals - this year is a 20's time period and we had no costumes to pull from! This pattern gave some simple options (students assist in costume making by taking a class) and we could whip up 50 girls dresses that didn't all have to look the same!Pattern was just what was described, and was delivered quickly! This pattern SUCKS. I measured for a size medium (small would have been too big). Armholes came half way to my waist. If you have no knowledge of altering patterns you would be lost. Shoulder width on a small has same cutting lines as "Q"(whatever that is). Neckline was so wide it fell of my shoulders. I am not a pattern maker but I could have drawn this pattern with my kids' crayons & saved $16.50. Would not recommend this to anyone!!!!!

I used the fringe dress pattern. This pattern was a good starting off point, but I had to make A LOT of adjustments. Luckily, I'm handy with a sewing machine, so I was able to figure out what needed to be done. I used the size that matched up with my measurements, but found it to be way too big. Also, the amount of fabric and fringe that it said I would need was way off. It said 2 1/2 yards of fabric, I got 3. Glad I did because I needed it. I pretty much had to double the amount of fringe it called for. The 12 yds it called for must be for the SM size. This pattern should not be used by a sewing beginner.

This pattern is extremely versatile. I have made 3 different dresses, all lovely from this pattern. The fit had to be adjusted, but instructions were clear and easy.

Glad the pattern is out there! I needed to have a dress made that was different than a costume. This worked out wonderfully. Shipping was quick!
