This is your basic stepper and it will really do its job once you get out your toolbox and fix the feet so that they actually fit into their slots. Ours came with what looked to me like sloppy manufacturing--the edges of the feet were warped in a way that they barely missed fitting into their slots, and thus were IMPOSSIBLE to firmly lodge in, never mind swap in and out with ease. I finally got out my tools and did a combination of sanding and shaving down of the plastic. After strategically mutilating each foot, I was able to get them to slot in (with the help of a hammer). I would not attempt to pull them back out again, although it might be technically possible. Clearly this is not the way these things are advertised--they are supposed to smoothly slide in and out. So since they were badly shaped, they deserve 1 star, because while I enjoy the challenge of fixing things, these things are sold as being entirely functional on their own, which they are not.Regarding slippage: they are fine on carpet. The feet grip nicely. They do come with mini pads on them to help grip on hard floors, however on a well waxed floor, I imagine they would slide, which could be dangerous. So I'd recommend using these on some textured surface, not on something glassy smooth.Hubs was the one who wanted this. I didn't think it would provide much of a workout. I was wrong. You'll be a sweaty mess just stepping for the length of one song. I try to go for two songs and I'm definitely done. You can hoist some small weights in your arms while you're marching up and down to add to your workout if you want. You can also rotate which of your feet takes the first step, because that is the only side of you that will hoist your weight. To do an even workout, I start with my right foot on the first song, then start with my left foot for the second.This technically does function, and it is possible to fix, so if you don't mind some tool work and want to keep the cost down, you can get this and maybe yours won't be as bad as ours was. But if you actually want something that comes ready to use and if you want to be able to easily adjust your height level, I can't in good conscience recommend this product to my fellow shoppers.

Product arrived today and if you want to use it straight out of the box it will probably be fine, BUT, if you want to add the extra height, which you probably will, you will spend time trying to add the extra components. I consider myself a capable d i yer and after an hour of trying I give up and I am returning the item. It is so poorly made that the parts do not fit. Save yourself the money and the hassle !

When other people said it doesn't fit, man, I thought I could be lucky and get a good one. NO.THE PIECES FOR 15CM DO NOT FIT ONTO THE BOTTOMDo not buy unless you are fine with using only the 10 cm I guess. Waste of money, low quality Amazon product.
