Steam Release Diverter, Pressure Cooker Accessories - Silicone Steam Diverter Kitchen Cupboards/Cabinets Savior (DUO/Smart)

I have the Instant Pot Duo Nova 8 quart and 10 quart. According to the chart, this is not supposed to fit my model of instant pot. I'm not sure why, except maybe because with the "authorized" models, the steam escapes through the steam release handle, which has a handle-or small projectile-on the button that can hold the steam diverter in place through the square holes at the bottom of the diverter. On my model, the Duo Nova, the steam is not released through the steam release handle, but rather through a weighted valve. This is a safety feature because on the older models, it was too easy to be scalded when trying to release steam, unless the user used a wooden spoon or similar device to push the steam release button. So they move the steam to the weighted steam release valve, and pushing the steam release handle is no longer a hazard in the newer models. So, the weighted valve on my Duo Nova has no handle or projectile to hold the steam diverter securely in place. The weighted steam release valve is also a bit wonky. It's not very secure where it sits, so the maker of this steam diverter may have assumed the steam diverter could not fit securely over the steam release valve. I knew when I bought this that I was taking a chance. But I figured it was worth the chance since I am willing to try anything to keep steam from ruining my cabinets. I bought the smaller of the two steam diverters. It can fit on the weighted steam release valve straight out of the box, and it will work if you hold it. However, I Vickyrigged it by folding the bottom part up to the top of the holes and slipping it over the steam weighted release valve. I uploaded a couple of pictures to show what I did. Since there are no projectiles on my weighted steam release valve, there is no reason to have the holes, anyway. With the bottom part folded up, this item works BEAUTIFULLY!! It shoots the steam straight into my sink! I discovered that I don't even have to push the steam release handle. All I have to do it hold the steam diverter at the base and slightly push it forward. The steam shoots straight out. If you have the Duo Nova, this will still work. I know, I get it. I don't like to "fix" products I buy before I can use them, either. But in all fairness, we aren't supposed to be buying this item for our model, anyway. If you don't want to fold the bottom of the steam diverter, you can cut it along the top of the holes; but I can't guarantee it will work as well as folding it. I think the "cuff" at the bottom gives the diverter extra strength and holds it in place more securely.

My Instant Pot has a short cord. So, it sits just under my cabinets above the outlet I use. This is great for directing the steam away from the cabinets above, which could damaged the wood over time. It's easy to clean and fits in my drawer nicely because of its size.

It works for my 6 qt IP. It stays on, but fits loose. It will easily tilt or turn the steamer head, releasing steam, also with the slightest bump. And it's hard to tell if vent is in correct position when diverted is on it. That said, the diverter works great, directing steam in 1 of 4 positions, so it can be directed away from cabinets or walkways, and towards vents.

I tried other diverters before finding this little jewel. Well, not so little but much better than the others. It is easy to put on to divert the steam and it very effectively diverts the steam in the direction I want to protect cabinets from damage. The others were too small, dangerous to actually put on the knob because if you didn't do it just right, steam would shoot out. Not only that but if you managed to get it on, the opening was so small that it blew steam right at your face full force because of the small opening. This one is perfect allowing the steam out but not in such force you had to swiftly move away.

I call this thing the Titanic Smoke Stack because it reminds me of something that belongs on a steam ship liner. It’s super easy to use and diverts the steam away from my cabinets. I was concerned that the steam would start to warp the wood. The only thing is- you need to be careful because the steam now comes out the side and can burn if you don’t stay clear.

I haven’t used it yet, but it doesn’t fit around the steam vent. It’s too loose. As soon as that steam hits it, it will either fall off or fly off. So, no, I am not pleased with the product. Plus it has holes all around the base of it and steam could escape there. It certainly wouldn’t work for a quick release and I doubt if it will work with the slow release.

Bought for an IP-DUO60 V3, 6 Quart, Instant Pot I've used it once. It was easy to direct the water vapor into the room in an expanding cone (making it less concentrated the further it got). A little water condensed inside the diverter. That said, I expected it to fit snugly on the valve and stay firmly in place. It's not even close. In fact, it slipped right on and fell right off when I removed the lid. It also has a huge amount of slop when you use it to rotate the valve. If I knew I couldn't leave it in place I would have bought one of the 3D printed dragon heads you can get elsewhere. I chose this because I'd have to remove a novelty diverter when cooking and put it back on to vent (they can't stand the constant heat while cooking). I'm disappointed that I get the fuss of a novelty diverter with the looks of this one.

Must have for any pressure cooker. Very easy to clean by hand or dishwasher.

I found I have to hold this Steam Release Diverter on my Instant Pot Duo Plus steam release valve, as I release the pressure in the pot. If I release the pressure without holding on to it, it will be blown off by the steam. The reason it is designed this way, is because if it connects firmly to the Instant Pot's pressure release valve, the extra weight will interfere with its function. Edit: As another reviewer pointed out, if you roll up the base into a cuff, it fits onto the Instant Pot's steam release valve properly. So, what I do once I have made the cuff, is place the Steam Release Diverter on my Instant Pot's steam release valve, only when I am ready to do a pressure release. I don't need to hold it on with my hand any longer, as it fits well enough to remain attached when the steam is released. I do not attach the cuff while the Instant Pot is still cooking, as it interferes with the steam release valve's normal operation.
