I recently mounted a new television on a wall. I bought a wall-mounted shelf unit for some of the associated electronics, and when I drilled the holes, one of them was right over a nail. That caused the drill to slip and the hole to be off-center. When I finished mounting the shelf I found that one end was slightly higher than the other. I decided that in addition to a stud finder, I also needed a pinpoint metal detector so that I could locate metallic objects in the wall prior to drilling holes. I found this one and decided to give it a shot.The fact that it is waterproof wasn't a big deal for me, but after using it a bit it gives me ideas. I haven't been much of a metal detector enthusiast in the past, but have had fun with them on occasion. I live near a body of water where I frequently see people out with metal detectors at the edge of the water and sometimes using them in the shallows where people moor their boats and drink and party. I am guessing that they lose things in the sand or the water. This device with its bright white LED flashlight and waterproof sealing is perfect for finding those lost items! Of course, you'd want to use it with a larger device with a wider sensitivity area.The instructions are very well-written and provide detailed operation info as well as suggestions on using it in ways that you might not realize it can do. For example, using it sideways to increase the search area, or "detuning" it to more precisely locate large objects.It's also pretty cool that it vibrates too! I guess you could use it completely submerged and go by feel. I haven't tried that yet, but it's a really nice feature. The holster and coiled lanyard are thoughtful touches. This product seems to have been designed and built by people who thoroughly considered real-world usage scenarios.I am impressed by this little device!

It says fully waterproof right. Which is not right. Very wrong. But when is rinsed it off it got wet inside somehow. Starting beeping without anything around it. Took battery cover off. Put new battery in it and it did the same thing. Then I noticed it was very wet around the turn on button So not a very good pinpointer or waterproof. Would never buy again. Worked great at first. Very very disappointed.
