Great sharpening stone!
I had been debating on wether or not it would be worth the money to buy another Arkansas sharpening stone as I already had a popular brand “tri hone” that I was somewhat satisfied with. I decided to take a leap and buy this hard Arkansas stone and I am so glad I did. Very impressed by the quality of the stone and the nice hardwood box it stores in. I sharpened all of my kitchen and hunting knives including wood chisels and hand planes. This stone put a razor sharp edge on everything. Much better than anything I’ve ever used before. Great stone!

An excellent tool. Could be a little thicker though
When it says "hard", it's hard. I can't imagine how soon the stone will need lapping or will it need lapping at all. While it feels very smooth, it does the job surprisingly fast. Just few movements are enough to provide you with a burr. I think this is an excellent choice second to diamond stone and has an unbeatable price/value ratio. The stone works perfectly well for chisels and planer blades, but it will be a little bit harder to sharpen knives with it as its thickness may not be enough for some handles.

This is a good rock
no, really! Natural Arkansas stone, and this one is very nice, no planar imperfections, color varies somewhat but also as fine as I had hoped. A little spendy, but you won’t be searching for a replacement anty time soon.

Domenick's Opinion
A very excellent product. Genuine Arkansas stone from the Quachita Mountains. I am philosophically opposed to stones that are made of some kind of industrial waste and impregnated with diamond dust. I like the real thing and the satisfaction from taking your time and getting the best results while not taking more metal off my blades that necessary.. This stone is the fine or hard grade". If you have poorer metal or a very dull blade it's best to start with a medium grade stone and finish with this one. It's the best sharpening stone you can get and was very reasonably priced.
