The product is pure Ayurveda heena and indigo powder, easy to use with proper instructions, and conditions hair well, making it soft and shiny. It works, but only if your skin doesn't react to it.
Reducing from 5 stars to 3 stars only because Indigo is not fully skin safe.Final comments : Just because it is plant based doesn't mean it is skin safe. I had a reaction on around the 5th use ! I had never had a reaction from any of the chemical dyes that I have used for years. I had a swollen forehead right down to my eye area. I thought it was some insect bite because it happened after 24 hours. But I got suspicious and I tried another organic product after proper patch test, and got the same reaction. Lot of itchy scalp, swollen forehead, and I get mild symptoms every time I shampoo, because perhaps the residue again comes in contact with the skin. So basically it is confirmed now that I am allergic to Indigo/Henna. Huge disappointment. For anybody new to the Indigo process - hope my earlier happy comments would help.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[Adding comments after 2nd use. The 2nd time I took help in applying, and the results were awesome. When I did shampoo after the 2-3 days, the water runoff turned blue in the drain, and the henna became more prominent and it got me worried. But the hair only became slightly less black more brown, but still excellent. The first week it looked like black hair. The 2nd week it looked like hennaed black hair. Its been 13 days now, and my white hair roots have started growing out, but the colored part is still good enough. Its not faded to pure orange, but looks more like natural black-graying hennaed hair. This suits me because I have 100% white hair. If I don't make a parting, I can delay the next application even further. I have finally found a solution to my hair coloring problems. I intend to use twice a month because of my hair growth pace, which I did not want to do with chemical color. Very satisfied. Just keep an old towel over pillows. I am sure regular use will make things even better/blacker]It actually works!I have been using Bigen powder based hair dye - brown black. I waited 6 weeks after my last coloring, and did a strand test to check for any reaction with my chemical colored hair. I did 1 step process (equal parts henna and indigo mixed together) for strand test and it went well.I then did 2 step process for full head, and kept henna and indigo for 2 hours each. My hair is all white underneath the existing color. Results are fit for purpose. These pics are immediately after rinsing first henna and then indigo. Yet to see how long it lasts and what color it fades into. In sunlight it looks like hennaed black hair with a dark brown tint. I also have some greyish/greenish tints in some places but it is mainly because I couldn't apply uniformly all over my scalp. Next time I should be able to do better coverage. Because it is all white hair, I got a mix of white, red and greenish gray depending on what I missed at that spot. Next time I will surely get it all right.I am hopeful I can finally give up chemical color. I had premature greying since childhood, I was worried about prolonged chemical use and was thinking of letting my hair go all white, but it isn't easy with roots growing (skunk line), and people commenting about it made things even more difficult. This product is just perfect for me. I wish I had come across this right when my greying had started ! It has worked for my full white roots as you can see in the pictures. It has worked beyond my expectations for a natural product! Really glad for the purchase !
