It's sulfate-free and uses wild soapberry as its base cleanser instead of harsh detergents, so it feels much gentler from the very first wash.The formula lathers less than a typical shampoo, which threw me off initially, but I quickly realized that's simply because it isn't loaded with foaming agents that strip your scalp's natural oils. A couple of pumps is really all you need. My scalp feels calm and balanced afterward instead of tight or dry, and I haven't dealt with the flare-ups I used to get.The lavender scent is soft and natural, not overpowering or synthetic — I learned that it comes from real lavender essential oil rather than added fragrance, so it's soothing rather than heavy.
