This not magnetic. The "belt" is essentially an elastic strap with a hook enclosure. Does it work? Yeah, I guess so. Is it going to last more than a year? Probably not.

Struggled to find my son a belt for kindergarten but luckily I found this one. Super easy to use and has an amazing range of adjustability. I bought this belt for my son who has special needs. It is awesome. He is easily able to faster and unfasten it. He is in a size 14 slim, buy it can be let out even more as needed.
