I have to admit, I heard Dr. Oz and Oprah recommending a product for stress relief called the Spoonk. I dont usually follow their recommendations but i believe in the power of accupressure and accupunture points. It looks painful and is at first until you get used to it and it does give you a wonderful sense of relaxation and well being. It stilmulates the production of endorphins because they rush to the points where the spikes are to heal it as they stimulate the production of blood in those areas. /something like that i'm not a scientist. BUT, they recommend trying it with no shirt and that is just hell. I found that I rarely use it as it is not that inviting to have about 3-5 min of pain to contend with when you first lay down. I also HATE the name and refuse to even say it because it is soooooo dumb. Stuff like that matters sometimes you buy stuff JUST because of the name. It sound more like a stupid kids toy. So when I saw this product I jumped at the chance when I was offered this product at a discount ine xchange for my honest and unbiased review. First the name is heavenly-White Lotus. It is clear that this company is about healthy living, yoga, and other alternative health tools. Unlike the SPoonk, this comes with very strong elastic so you can roll it up when not in use. The biggest difference is that it comes in two pieces which includes a lovely headrest. Also, believe it or not, this does not hurt. Why? because the Spoonk only has a thin padding so the spikes go right into your skin. The White Lotus Acupressure Mat has a thick memory foam padding underneath that absorbs the shock as you lay down with the weight of your body on the spikes. I think they spikes are also smaller. It allows you to lay on the spikes with little to no pain as it is very gentle. This is a fantastic product if you are into alternative health and wellness. It really isn't witchdoctory--it is based on science that the acupressure points stimulate blood flow which is key to anti aging as more blood flow lets the skin create more collagen. But for me the key benefit is relaxation and pain relief. Love love love this product and the company makes really luxurious products that are worth checking out. I also bought their bikram yoga mat and love it ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is my first acupressure mat and I'm really happy to have it *by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2016* This is my first acupressure mat and I'm really happy to have it.I have a moderately physical job and I tend to get a lot of aches and sore muscles. This mat really helped me relieve some of my pain because frankly once you lay on this mat you really can't help but relax. It hurts more if you try to keep your muscles tight. Its a very interesting concept.I was a little freaked out at first because when you see this mat and feel the little spiky discs you'll think to yourself this thing is going to hurt! But surprisingly it feels good.Now I'm not sure what it would feel like to lie on this on the floor. I haven't found the courage yet. So far I've been using it on my couch which is really working for me. The couch helps the mat not to be quite so intense.I did find that this mat, if you're using it on the couch like I am, works best if you have a very thin shirt on. I tried it with a thicker t-shirt and couldn't even feel the acupressure spikes.Overall the quality of this acupressure mat is fantastic. It doesn't have any kind of odd chemical smell or anything like that. I like that it's not made in China for once!
