a VERY FINE strainer--Great!
This strainer has been used a few times now, and it appears to be very well made. It is perfect for skimming scum off broths, etc. It is VERY FINE; sometimes the broth that is skimmed (the extra) will not go through the mesh. It is a great tool!

I love this screen!!!
I literally love this strainer!!!!! I drink loads of hot tea and most of the time I end up finishing up with tea leaves in my mouth. Not very tasty! I inherited the one my mother-in-law used for years and years and it worked great. But the screen part was very loose and there was no way to tighten it. So to my surprise I went searching and low and behold Amazon had the exact same one. Well not exact...The new one has a wider handle...Which is much better. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs to strain very small particles. It's so easy to rinse off, of course.

Great for making Stock!
This was just what I needed for making stocks at home! The other night I made a veggie stock but added a bunch of chicken bones that I'd frozen from a previous meal...I typically make veggie stocks, so I'd never encountered a problem like this before, but I noticed after straining my stock that I had all these little bits of chicken and fat in the stock! I ordered this little ladel / strainer thingy and I had the chicken floaties and the fat out of my stock in no time! Would definitely recommend. Good, sturdy construction, and very fine, thin netting, perfect for stocks.

which requires a very fine mesh to scoop out the milk solids
I bought this strainer for making ghee, which requires a very fine mesh to scoop out the milk solids. It works perfectly. Before this, I wasted a lot more of the butter trying to get the solids out with a spoon or using cheesecloth, neither of which were very effective. If you need a superfine mesh, this is the one. It's small though, and flat, so it's not good for pouring things through it.

Almost too fine…limits usefulness
I frequently stew chickens and freeze the broth for use later. I am always jealous when I go to a Chinese restaurant or open a box/can of swansons because of the clarity of the broth. I use several different types of strainers once cooking is complete to get my broth as clear as it can be. More problematic for me has been finding a strainer for skimming the broth while the chickens are cooking.I had hoped that this strainer could skim the top of the broth during cooking as well as a final strainer for the broth. In theory this would work, but that is where the limitations of this strainer start to emerge. The strainer is relatively flat. The shape in combination with the fine mesh makes skimming the top of the broth difficult to the point of being futile. Unfortunately, this strainer acts more like a paddle or spoon since it immediately fills with fines and then ceases to strain. If it had more depth (cupping) it would Work better for sure. As it is constructed now, it is easier for the broth to go around it as through it.Similarly, if the skimmer is used as a last pass before putting the broth in containers the fine mesh slows the pouring process way down and easily overflows they strainer overflow (again it becomes more like a spoon). The first picture (above) compares a fine strainer to this itemThis strainer needs to work on a liquid with a very low viscosity- think unfiltered vinegar instead of freshly stewed broths. The strainer is made well and has a good weight and balance…though there are very few opportunities to use it. I do like the fact that there is no hook or support bar on the opposite side of the handle - which often get in the way. While I would not buy this item again, if you require SUPER fine straining this might be just the item you are looking for.

No Discount, No Freebie
The only thing I received was this stainless steel skimmer; and it worked wonderfully well. I made four batches of jelly and this skimmer cut down on time and also waste. I never realized how much jelly I was wasting by using a metal spoon to skim. It was a fast clean-up between jellies; I don't know how I got along without it.

the small mesh strainer part is what I was really looking for and that part is great.
It is small, but effective, I just wish it were bigger and had more of a cup shape so I can pour more through it at one time. However, the small mesh strainer part is what I was really looking for and that part is great.
