Only Sky is Only Torn and Amazing!
I have gone on a road trip on a clear day in Goergia listening to "Only Sky" in my car at high volume. I suddenly felt like I was driving into the future as the music is very haunting and futuristic. There is a perfect blend of Torn's compositional style created for movie cinema and his usual genius as a sound morphing king. This is an excellent follow up to "Prezens". The guitar sound and looping effects are bent and twisted but in such a beautiful way. This is simply sound morphing brilliance of jazz, rock, folk, and other styles that only Torn can deliver. This is an excellent ECM solo guitar release that sets the bar high for upcoming guitar futurist.I look forward to seeing Torn at The Red Light Cafe June 7. I may be joined by Aliens from other worlds."Only Sky" is awesome! Five Stars!

Hiding in Trees
Brilliant. Very evocative and personal solo performances. Torn's phrasing and use of space, loops, and effects are unmatched. This is more than just a solo guitar CD. Had I not already bought the CD as a pre-order (after all every Torn release is an event), the following review from a 10 year old posted on DT's FB page would have sold me: "I think of aliens hiding in the trees and waiting for us to not pay attention."

this may not be the best place to start
if you've never heard david torn ,this may not be the best place to start, as it is deep,complex, and will require the listener to engage ,or get into the recording. if you have a casual aquaintance with his sound, it is not anything he has offered before. this aint prezens. but if by chance you enjoy mr torns style, and so forth waste no time wondering, and collect this. it's somewhat pastoral, convoluted, and serene. a really simply made recording, as only he can accomplish. well worth it, in my humble opinion.

Fantastic! If you like Torn's other work
Fantastic! If you like Torn's other work, you will most likely enjoy this. It's a solo effort, and the only accompaniment comes from layers of processed sound. Great from start to finish.
