I absolutely love Surya Brasil Dark Brown Henna! My hair is 90% gray, and after being gray for over five years, I decided it was time for a change. I discovered this product through Dr. Dray on YouTube, who recommended it as a non-toxic, chemical-free hair dye that leaves your hair softer, shinier, and healthier. That’s exactly why I gave it a try—and now I’m on my third bottle!This henna has exceeded all my expectations. My hair looks amazing, and I often receive compliments on how soft and shiny it is.One thing to note: I do need to leave the product in my hair for at least double the recommended time to fully cover my grays. For root touch-ups, I need to refresh my roots every three weeks or so. I loved the way this henna hair color was already mixed and ready to be applied. Very easy and plenty to do my long hair from scalp to the ends.However the dark brown I ordered actually appeared more of a reddish brown where my gray was. (The pictures show close to my scalp where my hair had grown out, and was gray and is now a light brown/red color) The darker parts of my brown hair absorbed color and is now a healthy beautiful dark brown with a slight hint of red. I let the color sit on my hair for 60 minutes before I washed it out. Maybe leaving it on for 2 hours would have achieved a darker brown color where my gray was. ?Overall this was easy to use (make sure you have your own gloves as none are provided) hair color, low/no odor and my hair shines and feels healthy. Will buy again for overall color, but will still have to use traditional powdered henna (alternating) for root growth to get a darker coverage.

I’ve been using this the past few years and notice it has much better coverage of greys than normal henna powder. No mixing necessary, the henna dye is much easier and faster to apply. Just like regular henna, i leave it in my hair for about 6 hours to take full effect. In the past i tried recommended time frame and it didn’t take to my hair. Washed out after the first wash. So now i leave for 6 hours. No ill effects from this. It fully takes to my hair and won’t fully wash out for about 2.5 months, which is how often i re-dye my hair anyway. It starts out rather dark and fades to a nice rich brown after a few washes. Buying on Amazon is usually cheaper than in store, but i do find that this brand can be found at most health food stores I’ve searched. I use griffin remedy color safe shampoo to maintain the color. I usually wash my hair 2 times per week so as to maintain the color longer, otherwise it might fade after about a month. I will continue buying this brand for the foreseeable future as all the other henna dye powders seem less effective on my greys. If you have a decent amount of grey, you will like this product. Just make sure to totally saturate down to the root and let sit for 6 hours. I know it’s annoying but i usually sleep with it in and put down an old towel to protect my bedding. Then i wake up and shower to rinse it out. Works like a charm.

I am saddened to write that this product is no longer acceptable. Discovered this product a couple of years ago at Trader Joe’s and was really happy to have found something I could use at home that was safe and healthy for my hair. At first, everything went well. Then I noticed twice that the product seemed to last less time and required more frequent application. Gloves were missing from the packages as well, in spite of clearly still appearing on the attached instructions leaflet. Decided to order a different batch, this time directly from Amazon. No gloves again and had to use two packages instead of one on my medium length hair. After multiple consecutively disappointing purchases, I decided to stop using this product.

I leave this in for hours and it doesn’t cover gray very well. It takes a long time go rinse out. It doesn’t really rinse out as it keeps washing out with every shampoo. Product is a good conditioner for the hair and adds highlights but doesn’t cover gray.
