Dustless Ash Scoop

Q: Is it too hot to stick this in the woodstove with red coals? Seems great, but we don't stop using our wood stove until the spring.

Works just fine for scooping hot coals. We just dump directly into an ash bin and then take outside.

I am guessing you are referring to the lid on the scoop. Mine also was sticking a little bit. I believe it it was caused by my handling of it. Check the sides of the edges of the lid and see if they are no longer "true". My sticking issue was fixed when I found the spot where a lid side was slightly pushed in and I worried it outward, a bit. Not much, just enough to stop the edge from catching on the side of the scoop.Hope this helps.

Q: How tall is it when closed? I have a Progress Hybrid and want to make sure I can get it into my stove and be able to pull it out with the lid closed.

The item is 12" long and 4" tall and tapers down to nothing at the mouth. The mouth when fully open is 11". When using you need to use one hand to hold the door open and the other to scoop the ashes, which is fine. Just shove the ashes to one side and scoop up. Hope this helps
