Louie: The Complete Season 5

From Louie making love to a lesbian couple's heavily pregnant surrogate mother
Louie Season 5 is Louie CK's darkest comedy, thus far. It's not for every CK fan. From Louie making love to a lesbian couple's heavily pregnant surrogate mother, to Pamela, his meanness girlfriend breaking up with him, to pooing in his pants and telling his daughters to walk away from him on the street and they most likely know he pooped big time in his pants (because he can no Longer hold it) to a 21 year old upper east side cuisine ware store owner refusing to help him purchase copper pans, to a comedian who dies after fracturing his skull in the bathroom while Louie is vomiting in the same toilet the soon to be dead man is trying to use. But there is always two or three stories and social aspects of his episodes. They are about learning about self and other - "I'm not the only person who is suffering.". His driver sheds tears -his feelings are hurt - when Louie is not interested at all in talking to him. The soon to be dead comedian told Louie he tried to be polite to him but Louie snubbed him. But in the end the comedian's drinking habits and general craziness killed him inspite of his moral lecture.

A show not for everyone, but THE show for a certain type of viewer
Let me start off by saying THIS SHOW IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. It has a mixture of surrealist, metaphysical, general philosophical inquiry that is thinly veiled in sitcom-ish like humor that often doesn't lend itself to reality. Louie exists as a divorced father of two who fluctuates between being despondent over his life and his future prospects and being deeply appreciative of life's fleeting nature and his relationship with his friends and children. It's episodic, save for a few story arcs, so each episode can be picked up and appreciated on its own. For a taste of what the show is like and what kind of tone it carries, I suggest watching "Bully," or "Come on God," for the kind of raunchy humor you can expect that's equally thought provoking as well. This TV show is Louie at his best. His character can be childish, abrasive, annoying naïve, or downright cruel, but his overwhelmingly candid attitude towards life and the way he approaches it makes you feel like you really share in his triumphs and his failures as just an average guy. This is not Modern Family 2.

true to life
In a nutshell....It can be as funny and uncomfortable as Curb Your Enthusiasm, and maybe even more so. The big difference is that the show is heartfelt. Louie has a soul but his life sucks!I enjoy the reflections of Louie's childhood and how it impacts his adult life. Louis C.K.'s stand-up comedy is also shown throughout each episode. The show is filmed in sepia/dark tone so it has a somewhat depressing feel, which fits in with Louie's life. If you're expecting a lighthearted, silly show, you may be disappointed. It delves into some uncomfortable topics at times, but, it's always a topic worth considering. Louie is a very funny show and I find myself wanting more! Louis C.K.'s comedy is so true to life. Overall, a great show! I've loved every episode!

So happy that I found this on prime
I never watched the series when it was on FOX and started watching Season 1 on Prime and was addicted from episode 1. Caught up with all 5 seasons - I am now a huge Louis CK fan. Pamela Adlon is fantastic and the girls that play his daughters are just great too. The first 2 seasons were really funny but then there were many serious shows and several were actually hard to watch because they were highly emotional. So sorry it is no longer on the air. Great series and great acting.

Love the way he breaks the rules with recurring subplots
Oh spread those writerly wings Louie man. Love the way he breaks the ruleswith recurring subplots. And his gut is cute too. Season five, so far, has takena break from what seemed like and endless circle-jerk in season 4. He's gonnalook back on all that jack and cringe some-day. I should take away a star forhis penchant for torturing the porpoise THAT much on TV...but he's Louie, andit's his show, he can yank the crank if he wants to. I'm just glad he's h findingother ways of expressing the self-gratification.

Humor that has no boundaries and Louis C.K. makes sure he takes advantage in a sophisticated yet witty style type of comedy
I started out by watching a Louis C.K. Stand up special offered here on prime, after that I was hooked, so I kept looking for more stand up comedy by Louis C.K. & that's when I discovered his series ( season 5) and this series had me rolling on the floor, this guy is a genius , he turns the most ordinary everyday event, into a 5 star comedy bit!!! Now iam watching season 1, and love it!! Planning to watch all six seasons

New TV Standard
If you're going to watch one episode, make it 5x3 "Cop Story". Edge of the seat. This show makes me laugh. It makes me uncomfortable. It makes me angry. It makes me happy. It makes me react, shout out loud, make faces. I feel like I learn something from every episode. It's not easy stuff to watch, not a background show. When you give it your full attention you're rewarded. Keep going, Louis. I mean, Louie.

raw + beautiful
This show is BRILLIANT. Louie is NOT a typical comedy show - it is mostly heart and darkness. Genius casting of both regular and transient characters. I did have an initial is-this-going-to-be-over-the-top gross just to be over-the-top-gross hesitation in season one....but I stuck with it and the show unfolded and developed into the heart and darkness that is unlike anything out there - it feels like a distilled artful nugget of real life. love love love the mind of louie ck.
