This storybook is the fifth in Julia Cookโs BEST ME I Can Be! book series, which teaches children that social skills can make home life happier and school more successful. The skills are part of the Boys Town Education Modelยฎ that has improved student behavior and classroom climates in hundreds of schools across the country. Many of the same techniques can also be found in the strategies that comprise Boys Town's Common Sense Parentingยฎ program. Tips for parents and educators on how to teach kids self-control, patience, how to ask for help, and staying focused included at the end of the picture book. Review: Yes please! - Julia Cook does a great job guiding to kids to better understand that life doesn't always go their way. I appreciate the parent and teacher tips at the back. Review: Perfect for those kids who "dance to the beat of their own drummer' - for better and for worse! - Fun book to help kids 9 and under - it shows them how sometimes they can do things their own way and sometimes they need to do what the adults (teachers and parents) tell them too. In this story the boy has missing/ half done assignments and he figures out he has to focus, not get distracted, and speak up for himself when he doesn't understand. All done in a fun, relatable, positive way. As a teacher and a parent too - it's a hard thing to sell, but this book is PERFECT for it.

Great author, great book!
Julia Cook writes the best kids books ever!!! All the books in this set are so fantastic with a "moral" so the kids actually learn the consequences of their actions and alternatives they could take. My 10 year old loves reading them. He's a little behind on reading and has a few behavior issues and these are perfect for him---and most of the other kids in his class! Great stories, great illustrations. Thank you Julia; I hope you keep them coming!

Humorous help!
I'm a School Social Worker and have found this book to be very helpful with some of the students in my school who tend to be stubborn. It can be used for Kindergarten and first graders but the main character is about 4th grade so it has a wide range. I have found it to be most helpful with my second and third graders.

a must for counselors
I am an elementary school counselor. I have so many of her books and I seriously doubt that this will be the last one. I use these both in my classroom guidance lessons as well as my small group discussions. I have used this book from Kindergarten all the way up to 3rd. It leads the way perfectly not only to great discussions but also to art projects that help them remember the lessons. As long as Mrs. Cook keeps writing, I will be buying.

Strong message, interesting illustrations
I used this book in my classroom to help teach kids that itโs okay to ask for help and to follow directions. I sent it home with several students to have them read with their parents. In fact, it clicked so well that I used it at home with my personal kiddo. I like the lesson that it conveyed and the illustrations were great!

Great Tool to open up Discussions on Behavior
I have a 5 year old son with ADHD and he has always insisted on doing things "his way". He enjoys reading this book (and others by this Author) and he learns something about actions and how they affect others at the same time. I find this book helpful in showing him the issues with doing things "my way". He also LOVES the title... because he relates to it!

Too long!
It goes on and on a bit too much. Not bad, but only ok.

Great book
This year I am teaching slightly younger children, some of who are not used to staying on task and perservering at an activity.
