The leash is not very flexible. Because of this, it's very easy for my hyperactive dog to get me tangled up in it. She is a boxer puppy, about 50#, so she can be a challenge for me to handle. I feel totally safe and not worried that she can break the leash as it is very sturdy. I am mobility limited which is the reason for the leash. She's been a bit of a challenge when I allowed her to run outside free. She never wants to come in. So, we purchased the 50 foot leash. As long as I stand where she can't run behind me, all is good with the world. Also, on ONE occasion the leash became unfastened to her collar. I checked it closely and see no reason why it should have been able to unfasten, but it did. In all fairness, this leash may become more flexible as it is used. It IS a great length, I LOVE THE PADDED HANDLE (BIG PLUS). I would recommend this leash to anyone who wants the safety of having their dog under their control while allowing it to run and play. I throw her ball for her and she chases it and because of the leash she even occasionally brings it back - which she NEVER did before.
