FolderClone is beneficial to individual users, small businesses (SOHO), and large corporations. Individual users will find FolderClone essential for backing up their data files and/or synchronizing their laptops to their desktops. For large enterprises and small businesses alike, FolderClone is part of the network infrastructure needed to maintain high file availability, protect your files, and share files throughout your organization. FolderClone arranges your synchronization needs in sets of "tasks". A task is a set of specifications which tells FolderClone what files/folders you want to be copied, where you want them copied, and how often you want this done. Once configured, FolderClone compares the "source" folder against the "target" folder at the user defined time intervals. Changes or additions to the source folder are copied to the target folder. Files and folders which exist on the target folder but not on the source folder are deleted. (Optionally, the deletion can be turned off). This process runs automatically in the background without any further user interaction required. FolderClone Pro includes all the great features of the standard version plus: E-mail Notifications, Run a task when first connecting to network, Copy Open/Locked/In-Use Files Define Custom Log File Size, Copy NTFS Security Attributes, Application option settings can be overridden for each individual task, Scheduling option allows for FolderClone Pro to "Run On Windows Startup"

Solves a huge issue in my home business
Over the years I have used many systems to make backups. They all backup fine but restoring is another issue. I learned to only use backup programs that use the native file format, that is don't put the files into their own backup format. FolderClone works with the native file format so I can access the backup without using a special program that I may or may not still have. It is easy to select where the files are coming from and where they are going. You can set the frequency of backup to every minute to just about any other interval. I have some files that I back up every few minutes and others a few times a year.I send files to a backup server, a usb fireproof hard drive and also to a NAS all without incident. To sum up, this program is easy to setup and has been totally reliable.

Disappointed
I bought this program to backup my document files for my buisness and found it to be very hard to use. It seems to be confusing and not at all user friendly for a person who has no formal computer training. I talked to my IT guy and he said he uses it but he work with this stuff everyday. I bought a different program and installed it and set it up all myself with no help and it works well.

Battle tested. Used by healthcare systems. The best.
Over the years I have used numerous backup programs and none of them worked to my satisfaction. I downloaded the FolderClone trial version and used it for a month before I bought it. FolderClone is by far the best backup solution I have used. It is easy to use and reliable. It has already bailed me out. Both of my home PCs went nuts when Internet Explorer 8 came out. I had to restore both PCs. I did not lose a single user file because FolderClone works!!!Now understand that FolderClone is not imaging software, I did not use it to restore my PCs, just my user files. For imaging and restoring my PCs I use Acronis True Image. I have found Acronis to be reliable for hard drive and drive partition imaging, but unreliable as a backup solutionI am a CT Technologist and have worked in the IT world as a system administrator for the deployment of a PACS system. PACS is the system for storing and distributing medical imaging, that is, Xray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine tests. These tests absolutely must be protected and backed up. GE Healthcare is now using FolderClone with their Imagecast PACS. I cannot provide a better endorsement.FolderClone does exactly what I want it to do, when I want it to do it. Basically, if Windows Explorer can find a file, FolderClone can find it and put a backup copy of it on any memory device that Windows Explorer can find. You can use Windows Explorer to see and test the copies. I back up to a second internal hard drive, a USB thumb drive, and a USB external hard driveWith FolderClone, I daily backup: My Documents totally, selected files individually, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Favorites, Quicken and Microsoft Money, and RoboForm (encrypted passwords and documents). Monthly I backup My Documents to an external drive.Microsoft Outlook is the trickiest file I have to backup. Windows, by default, hides the Outlook user file. The easiest solution I have come up with is to setup Outlook to save my Outlook files in a second file I call My Outlook Data located in my My Documents library. To do this I opened Outlook and went to Tools / Options / Mail Setup tab / Data Files button / Add button and selected the file I created. Its much simpler to setup FolderlCone to backup Outlook this way, it doesn't require setting up a separate backup task; it gets backed up with My Documents. To setup FolderClone to copy hidden files you have to set Widows to view hidden folders. Within FolderClone go to the Task Properties / Options / CHECK Override Application Level Options / UNCHECK Ignore Hidden Files, UNCHECK Ignore Hidden Folders. The location of your Outlook files in Windows XP is: C:\ Documents and Settings \ YOUR USER NAME \Local Settings \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Outlook\. To see the files open Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder options / View / Files and Folders / Show hidden files and foldersThe location of your Outlook files in Windows 7 is: C:\ Users\ YOUR USER NAME \ Application Data \ Local \ Microsoft \ Outlook\. To see the files open Windows Explorer / Organize drop down menu / Folder and search options / View tab / Show hidden files and folders

It works well
Easy to configure and works in testing on XP, Win2003, and Vista. Tested with USB to hard drive, hard drive to network drive, USB to network attached storage. I backup up my USB stick every day to my development laptop hard drive. Copy logic appears to be correct, verified by a report they publish before clicking on execute the job. I would still recommend users periodically do an image backup of all their workstation drives, but this helps with the day to day backup of files. Command Prompt XCOPY with switches works okay, but chokes on read-only files at times. FolderClone overcomes XCOPY annoyances. Recommend as 5-star.

I love FolderClone - it has saved me so many times!
Sadly too many times I have had harddrives die, or have had my windows system get so corrupted that I had no alternative but to reformat everything and re-install. There were many times in the past that this scenario left me sick, knowing I would have lost untold amounts of data or have many hours of work ahead of me.Thanks to FolderClone my response is different! Now I always have an exact copy of all my important files. All my photos, videos, music, documents, graphics... I lose NOTHING!Best part, FolderClone is so easy to set up (as Geico says, 'even a caveman can do it') Once you set it up you don't have to worry about a thing. It will work faithfully and even email you if there is a problem on any of your tasks.I realize that this product is marketed to businesses and such, I love it so much that I think EVERYONE ought to own it and use it.
