Festool 456870 Cloth Filter Bag for Ct 22 Model, 5-Pack

I've had my CT22 vacuum for at least 5 years. I have put this poor thing through hurricane cleanup, several basement refinishing projects, sanded hundreds of cabinet pieces, routing hundreds of feet of molding, and just about every other thing you imagine using a vacuum for on a job site. The paper bags seem to work great for medium to large particles like sawdust and wood chips. It's easier to empty them out to reuse them, so it may be cheaper if this is all you ever do. When it comes to finer dust pickup, the cloth bags work better because they filter better and fill up more before losing suction. Emptying them out is a little tricky because the sharper wood chips stick to the inside, but it can be done with patience.Keeping the inside of the vacuum clean is really important for best performance, quiet operation and longevity. That fine talc-like dust gets everywhere it's not supposed to be, and will eventually cause major issues. I had a paper bag fail while sanding sheet rock, which effectively stopped the project. Imagine what it would look like if you threw a 5 pound bag of flour into a blender with no lid. I had to completely disassemble the entire unit and clean every little piece. This is not something i would suggest doing if you're not (realistically) mechanically inclined, experienced with electric motors, have the proper cleaning products, and patience. Especially if it's still under warranty. The motor became caked with material like you dipped it in fondu. After 2+ hours of cleaning and reassembly, I was amazed how much quieter it was, as well as a stronger vacuum. Lesson learned. For a $500 machine, don't be cheap with the bags or preventive maintenance.August 20, 2013 - These bags will allow some of the finest dust through if you're finish sanding sheetrock, especially if the vacuum is used near full power or picking up piles of dust. If used for sheetrock, utilize the HEPA filter cleaner often, or open the case and clean out the two HEPA filters. Using a paper bag is a better idea, just empty it more often.

Quality Original Festool Bags, typically overpriced German product, but not China junk, so I’m OK with the extra $$$

I had a complete blow-out with a paper type bag (something sharp punctured it from the inside) and made a huge mess! These bags eliminated even a chance of that happening again. I'll continue to use this type of bag in place of the paper model just for the peace of mind.

letting you know this is just a paper bag with a single layer of thin cloth that is only laminated in a few spots at best. if so much as one of these blow out I am done with Festool vac's.
