Yet to expose it to rain whilst in use, but took it camping on the beach over uneven and bumpy roads as well as high speed highway driving and it was perfect. Fits a heap of gear and straps down securely. Nothing loosened and the door hooks worked perfectly.

First, I rarely write Amazon reviews. I did this review because travel for moving or vacation should be as stress free as possible. I can say from my experience that you can trust this product. I looked at many others before I purchased this one and do not regret spending a bit more money than some of the other options. I rented an SUV for a fishing trip in northern Minnesota and knew I would need more room for my gear. Not knowing which SUV the rental company would provide me until I picked it up, I was worried about how I could secure the RoofPax. By pure chance, this SUV had roof racks and worked perfectly with this bag. Second, I drove about 1200 miles through moderate rain at times. The carrier was bone dry when I opened it up at the destinations. Also, when the straps are secured properly, there is no movement or wind noise from the carrier. Finally, here are my thoughts to help you have a good experience with this product. 1. WIND GUSTS - Not surprisingly, with the carrier fully packed you will notice a moderate amount of effect from wind gusts hitting the vehicle when you drive. So, take that into consideration when you first start driving with it. Nothing severe, but the carrier in wind does affect the handling of the vehicle. 2. KNOW YOUR VEHICLE - You need to know how you are intending to strap the carrier down. In my case, I was intending to use the 6 straps and pull down the door seals to attach the bag with the hooks, but I could not pull down the door seals. I've seen so many videos from many products about simply pulling down the door seals and using the hooks, but I could not budge them on the rental. I looked at some YouTube videos, and often you have to remove interior molding on cars to get the door seals to move. Thankfully, in this car, I had a roof rack. So, before you go, make sure you can pull down the door seals, have roof racks or accept the fact that you will need an alternative method to strap it securely. 3. PACKING - Be sure to have the closing zipper toward the BACK of the vehicle and the non-zipper part toward the front. Don't strap down any straps until you have packed the RoofPax. If you try to strap it down first, then putting things into the carrier is impossible. Pack the largest items first and then put smaller things in to fill up the space. The carrier actually has a foam layer on the bottom to absorb contact with your vehicle. The carrier is heavy duty canvas but don't place sharp objects on the edges because sharp objects will obviously tear the fabric over time when driving. 4. SECURING - The fastening options with this carrier are excellent. Even if i could not use door seals or roof racks, the carrier has enough webbing options for an alternative option. A lot of carriers have no such options. Once it's packed, pull the zippers closed to the back (which is challenging because they are heavy duty and waterproof), and pull down the flaps around the top of the carrier. Now, unloosen the straps and begin to strap them down. I had read reviews wherein people described the webbing pulling away from the carrier over time, but in my experience, I think those people tightened the straps too radically (or maybe they had a defective product). Once you have the strap secured, fold up the extra strap webbing and fold the webbing into the orange Velcro strap to keep the webbing from whipping into the wind during the drive. Secure the straps so they don't move, but don't pull them so tight that they damage the carrier. FINAL THOUGHT: After 50 miles on the road with a rental car and an untested fabric carrier, I began to relax and never thought about the RoofPax again during my trip. Highly recommended.

Bought it 3 years ago and still going strong with it. Love that its waterproof. Its gone cross country several times.

The way it's pictured it looks like there is some structure in the sides and bottom. It's just a canvas bag. On the plus side, the canvas is heavy duty. I built a box and installed inside the bag so it would stand on its own.
