Does this compare to rest Restasis? Work as well?

Restasis is a prescription medication that works differently than an eye lubricant. I really cannot answer your question due to that factor. I can say that I have used Restasis; it did not work for me, and I developed an issue with it. Rohto is the best eye lubricant I have ever used, and I will order it again and again. As someone with dry eye, I have been searching for a product that I did not have to use every 30 minutes; this product is working for longer periods for me. It does not sting; it does not cause any blurriness upon use. I hope you find the product that suits your needs best.

Do these ones burn like some of the other Rohto drops?

The purple capped Rohto do NOT burn. I've tried several eye drops from this brand (and many others, thx to Sjogrens 🙄) and found that any of the "cooling" types do burn. Must be whatever ingredient it is that's "cooling"that makes it burn.

I've also been told that a preservative found in anything but the individually packaged drops will cause a burn. But I don't think these fit that category. IOW while not "preservative-free", they still do not burn.

For the most bang for your buck, for longest lasting lubricant between applications and for the most soothing, I always buy the Rohto drops with the purple cap.

Highly recommend for all Sjogrens sufferers and anyone else with dry eyes.

is this product preservative-free?

No, it contains boric acid and sodium borate, which may be preservatives.  I would never use eye drops without preservatives because of contamination and spoilage.  To safely make preservative-free eye drops, you'd have to use an expensive filtered bottle or single-dose vials, which are expensive and wasteful.

Does this product reduce the tearing caused by dry eye??

When I first put it in the morning it makes my eyes tear, but a little later my eyes feel much better and I don’t have the tearing all day.
