Joseph Joseph Garlic Rocker Crusher Mincer Press Dishwasher Safe, Stainless Steel

(I thought I already reviewed this.) It's a kitchen gadget but it's small, useful and well built. It replaces my highly-rated garlic press that I hated using. I have to remove the skin with this but leaving the skin on with the garlic press never actually worked well. It minces beautifully and it is easy to spoon out onto a container or the frying pan. It doesn't take a lot of effort - less than the press. It's also very easy to clean. No moving parts. Heavy duty metal. It's not going to break. I wish I'd thought of this before getting that press. Thanks to AI for pointing me in the right directlion.

I was a little apprehensive about spending $20 for a slab of metal, especially when there’s a million “Amazonian” knock-offs online for the half the price, but after watching a user video of the efficacy of this product I bought it immediately. Upon first use (and every use since then) I have had the same, trustworthy, high quality results as that user. With some elbow grease, you can legit get cube-able squares/chunks of garlic as if you had painstakingly chopped it yourself for hours on end. The ends of the tool don’t “dig” into the skin as I’d imagined they would. Nope. Super comfortable underfoot. This makes the second Joseph and Joseph purchase I’ve made and couldn’t be more pleased with both (3-compartment hamper). I’ll never have to chop garlic again. Not even the largest clove is a challenge for this ingenious tool. Looks great too ;)

I like this garlic rocker, it's much easier to clean than the other type of garlic mincer that clams down. However it takes a bit of practice to use, and it's not as easy as it looks. You definitely need to use both hand to press down with some weight to cut through the garlic.

I feel compelled to write a review because I initially thought about returning the garlic rocker when I experienced the things other reviewers mentioned: garlic pieces being larger than with a standard press, some garlic left underneath unminced, garlic getting stuck in the holes. As a product designer myself, I even considered how I'd redesign it to be better. All that said and after additional use, I changed my mind! They made some very thoughtful choices in designing this product and if you don't think of it as a direct replacement for your run-of-the-mill garlic press, it's an awesome product. Yes, the resulting pieces are bigger than with a garlic press BUT they're also not crushed/juiced and I didn't find myself needing them to be smaller to cooked with. If you move any remaining garlic pieces around under the rocker and rock some more, it fully minces them. Nothing left over. It's sharp enough to do that (but not to cut yourself) which I've never found to be true with a hand press. I also realized running a spoon quickly over the top and a few taps gets most of the garlic out. Any remaining can be popped out with a fork. With hand presses, there's always garlic left over. Cleaning it is a snap given the one-piece design. Long story short, I think this is a great product. Encourage you all to defer judgement and use it for a while. It's becoming a kitchen tool I reach for often, and that's saying a lot.

The quality of the material is structurally sound. It presses through garlic fairy easily with just applying pressure to both sides with your palms and see-sawing. The way the garlic comes through ends up being like short garlic straws. I find that going over it a second time gives it a better breakdown for most recipes. I've had this for a few months and it doesn't show any indication of rust or discoloration. It cleans easy by hand or in the dishwasher. The price seems a little high, but the quality makes up for it. I think it will last forever.

I think it's a nice little gadget but I honestly don't think I can say it's any better than the alternatives. I got this as an easy way to mince garlic for recipes since you can't beat fresh garlic, but chopping can be a pain. Mincing takes a good bit of pressure but isn't hard or uncomfortable because of the ergonomics. The issue for me though is that it's not helping me mince garlic any faster. It usually works fine for 1 or 2 cloves but any more than that and it starts getting clogged with cloves getting stuck to the bottom only halfway through the holes. Maybe there's a learning curve to it? In my experience though, I already have a knife out anyways to smash the cloves and make them easy to peel so it's usually just as fast, if not faster, to just mince it with the knife. It could maybe save you time mincing a large amount of garlic but at the point you're better off mincing in a mini chopper or food processor. I feel like this product definitely has a market of people that will find it very useful and it's not a bad tool, but for the average able bodied person like myself I don't see much benefit to owning it. Not something to avoid but assess your needs first because it's not something that'll save you time, it'll help you if you struggle to mince garlic with a knife or traditional press.

I just looked at some of the other reviews...... I purchased mine in July 2018 and the one I received was the same high quality as the one I purchased at a store years ago. Not sure which seller is sending out the knockoff versions, but I purchased the one shipped direct from Amazon with no problems.. Whenever I need to use this, it is always in the dishwasher because I use it so much. So I purchased another one. I love this and guests always comment that they are going to buy one after seeing me use it. It is simple and easy to clean, and does the job extremely quickly with no fuss. I can rapidly crush multiple garlic cloves by just smashing them down on my cutting board with this rocker - unlike the previous lever type crusher I had, where you would have to open, insert the clove, crush with the lever and repeat. The Joseph Joseph rocker allows you to smoosh to your hearts content. The only improvement I would make is maybe making the metal a bit thinner, as it is an extremely sturdy piece of equipment ( maybe the thickness is necessary so the rocker is sturdy enough) so that the garlic doesnt get stock in the holes so easily. However, a quick sharp tap on the cutting board usually disloges 99% percent of it, and even with the old lever type crushers, some garlic would get stuck in the holes with no easy way of tapping to remove it. So this one still wins, hands down. Plus it will last a lifetime! You would need to drive a car over this to bend it! So all round this is the best crusher I have used, and it makes a great gift too! This garlic mincer is wonderful! Been using it for about 6 months and it works so well and quickly! The cleanup is super easy. It is much easier to use this tool than it is to chop/mince by hand…no smelly fingers afterwards :). It is also well made and definitely not flimsy. Excellent kitchen tool!!

It's a great tool and well-built. It's especially good for mincing a lot of garlic at once. I find it a bit hard to clean the holes which get clogged up with every use. I generally use a knife for cleaning it - wish there was a tool to help.

Super simple, easy to use, heavy dutry, and best of all easy to clean!
