I would like to use this to cut the power on my winch when not it use. Does anyone know if this will handle the draw when the winch is in use?

Check your winches max current draw at it's max pull. Most 10k winches can go over 300-amps easy some over 350-amps. Always use switches, contact points and terminals that can handle more than your devices rated maximum current draw and max voltage, even if it's only 10% more. Don't size for nominal loads, size for max current and max voltage plus a safety factor. Wire charts (current to awg wire size) is a safe minimum size. If it says 4awg wire, go to 2awg. Copper is cheap and it will lower your circuits overall resistance and current draw while being safer. Do this and you wont get suprised the general wire chart that is probably written for a very spoecific type of wire strand size, jacket, etc. You can go down in fuse/breaker size, it will just blow/trip more often. You can go up one fuse size and, at this current level, that means only 10-amps more. So if your winch can draw a max of 300-amps, the largest fuse you should use is 310-amps. Momentary is very subjective. Without a quatitative number, size components for maximum current draw. Also, NEVER put a switch on a Negative, Common or Neutral wire.

can this be used with 4/0 cable lugs

The switch doesn't care about the lug current capacity, just about physical characteristics of the lug, which unfortunately is not standardized. If the lug is bulky at its connecting area to the cable, some allowance might have to be made in mounting. The lug needs a fairly large hole opening where it connects to the switch, at least a 7/16 inch hole. The metal area around the hole opening of the lug can't be too large or it will short out to the connector on the other side of the switch, so some grinding of the lug's squareness might be necessary. Available thread on the switch terminals is more than adequate for a fairly thick lug.

I bought this to hook up to my rv battery case. i assumed it would come with instructions. does anyone have a good website showing how to hook it up?

Really no need for instructions. I installed it in my camper, its purpose is to disrupt electrical connection. If you have one main power cable then connect from the battery to the switch and then main power to switch. If there's a bunch of connections to the power side and not sure then you can also install the switch on the negative side which usually goes to one chassis ground.
